"No other country treats porn stars with such respect."

Kangana Ranaut has justified calling Urmila Matondkar a “soft-porn actor”.

Known for her outspoken, brash viewpoints, Kangana previously made comments about the ’90s star which did not go down well with fans.

Kangana had said: “Even Urmila, she is a soft porn star. I know it’s very blatant.

“But she isn’t known for her acting for sure.

“What is she known for? For doing soft porn right? If she can get a ticket, why won’t I get a ticket?”

One user retaliated to Kangana and said: “Urmila Matondkar is not only a better actor but a far more better human being than you.

“You are nothing but trash.”

When asked about the label she had given to Urmila, the Queen star questioned why the term ‘porn star’ was objectionable.

She said: “Is soft porn or porn star an objectionable term? No.

“It is not an objectionable term. It is a word that is not socially acceptable.

“No other country treats porn stars with such respect as we do. You can ask Sunny Leone.

“I was asked to comment on Urmila Matondkar Ji asking on what basis was the BJP considering me for a foray into politics.

“That was her question. I believe there are different realms of art.

“Sensational art, the one we refer to as massy art, which only titillates or physically stimulates you, that is also an art form.

“However, that can never be superior to the art that is intellectually motivating, one which stimulates your mind.

“I personally believe that I belong to that balanced cinema artiste tribe. I have never done item numbers.

“So, all I said was that if she could join a party (Congress) with her kind of filmography, then I have a more ravishing body of work.

“If they are happy calling themselves ‘tandoori murgi’, ‘item girl’, ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’, why is it seen something as violating?

“It is a matter of fact. If they are comfortable with that, why do you want to shame her about it?

“I personally do not think that I had the intention of shaming her (Urmila) because they are very comfortable in that role.

“All I tried to say is that I respect your art, and seduction is an art form.

“If I respect your art, why don’t you respect my art?”

This is not the first time Kangana has spoken up against another actress in recent times.

In February 2024, she labelled former film star Twinkle Khanna a “privileged brat”.

On the work front, Kangana Ranaut will next be seen as former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in Emergency.

Scheduled to be released on June 14, 2024, Kangana has also produced and directed the film.

Meanwhile, Urmila Matonkar is known for her roles in films such as Chamatkar (1992), Rangeela (1995) and Dillagi (1999).

She was last seen in a special appearance in Blackmail (2018).
