"At least now the world knows why he did what he did"
An Oxford-educated Pakistani senator sparked outrage by sharing a photo of Adolf Hitler alongside the message “at least the world knows why he did what he did”.
This came amid Israeli strikes on Hamas targets in Palestine.
Afnan Ullah Khan, whose X biography says he has received doctorates from York, Oxford and University College London (UCL), has frequently shared his views on the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
But one post sparked a huge backlash.
Khan’s post featured an image of Hitler in his Nazi uniform and a message which appeared to reference the murder of six million Jews in the Holocaust.
Khan, who represents the Pakistan Muslim League party, wrote:
“At least now the world knows why he did what he did #GazaGenocide.”

The post was widely condemned, with many believing Khan was supporting the attacks on Israel by justifying what happening during World War II.
One user wrote: “This is bad, very bad. Please delete immediately. Nazism was as bad as Zionism, both must be condemned unequivocally.”
Another told the senator to “delete this”.
A third tagged X boss Elon Musk and wrote:
“In a recent spaces you said ‘another Holocaust cannot happen’.
“By allowing posts like these, you are irresponsibly going against your words.
“Preventing another Holocaust must be on top of your priorities, and you have the power to prevent it.”
Ayesha Siddiqa, who identifies herself as a senior fellow at London’s King’s College, slammed Khan’s post as “shameful content”.
She wrote: “No violence is justifiable be it against Palestinians or Jews.
“Standing up for [the] rights of Palestinians doesn’t justify such comments.”
Khan reposted Ms Siddiqa’s tweet while another woman defended his remark.
The woman posted: “First of all he didn’t say Hitler’s act is good or bad in the tweet.
“Secondly I know why you feel so offended you have to justify loyalty to [the] West (where you live).”
The woman added that it is “shameful that so many children and women are dying and only you care about is this tweet”.
Khan’s post was later deleted by X, with the platform saying it “violated” the site’s rules.
Over the past few weeks, Khan has condemned Israel, repeatedly calling the nation a “terrorist state” and comparing the government to that of the Nazis.
In a post on October 26, 2023, the senator shared a picture of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with blood on his lips whilst holding up McDonald’s food.
It was captioned: “I’m Lovin’ It.”
In response to Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy expressing his support for Israel, Khan said:
“You are not going to become the US president.
“For Israelis, you are still a lowlife disposable Goyim.”
