Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk is safe after a vehicle linked to his concert convoy came under fire in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
The shooting occurred on the night of September 5, 2026, shortly after Virk had performed at Rogers Forum in the Canadian city.
The Abbotsford Police Department confirmed that a vehicle travelling through the 2500-block of McCallum Road was fired upon shortly after 11 pm.
Occupants of a dark-coloured SUV opened fire on the vehicle in what police described as an incident that appeared to be targeted in nature.
No one was injured in the shooting, bringing significant relief to fans and followers who had been alarmed by the initial reports circulating online.
Shortly after the shooting, officers responded to a separate report of a vehicle fire in the 2400-block of Sunnyside Place in Abbotsford.
An SUV was found fully engulfed in flames at that location, and investigators are now examining whether the fire is connected to the earlier shooting.
Several Indian and Canadian media reports initially linked the targeted vehicle to Virk’s concert convoy and suggested that around seven shots had been fired.
However, the Abbotsford Police Department did not publicly confirm that Virk was present inside the vehicle that came under fire.
Virk’s father Kuljit Singh later addressed the media reports directly, firmly clarifying that his son was safe and unharmed throughout the incident.
He said: “Reports claiming that shots were fired at Ammy or his car are incorrect.
“My elder son Bhagwant speaks to Ammy daily, and he confirmed that the firing incident did not involve Ammy’s vehicle.
“The incident was reportedly linked to the organisers and promoters managing the show.”
His statement provided crucial context that shifted the focus of the investigation away from the singer himself.
The elder Virk’s account suggested that those connected to the show’s organisation and promotion were more likely the intended targets.
The clarification brought considerable relief to fans who had been deeply worried about the safety of the beloved Punjabi entertainer.
