"Yudhi was one of ours, and he always will be."

A 22-year-old British Army soldier originally from Mauritius has died, prompting an outpouring of tributes from his regiment, family and friends.

Trooper Yudhisingh Jussun, known to his friends as Yudhi, served with The Blues and Royals, part of the Household Cavalry.

He died on October 14, 2026, in a reported traffic accident.

The UK Ministry of Defence confirmed his death.

Jussun fulfilled his dream of joining the British Army three years ago, becoming a source of pride for his family and homeland.

During his service, he took part in high-profile state ceremonies in London and served in the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, which performs ceremonial duties including providing the King’s Guard.

In a tribute, the Household Cavalry described Jussun as a loyal friend and much-loved comrade who was known for his warmth, resilience and infectious positivity.

The regiment said: “He put others before himself, lifted those around him and embodied the bonds of friendship and service that unite the Household Cavalry family.

“Our deepest sympathies are with Yudhi’s mother and father, family, and all who knew and loved him.

“The Regiment shares their grief, Yudhi was one of ours, and he always will be. We are poorer for his loss and richer for having known him.”

Jussun’s funeral and military honours took place on October 22, with fellow soldiers walking alongside one another in a show of solidarity as they paid their final respects.

Tributes have also been shared on social media, with friends and loved ones remembering his character, military service and personal milestones, including his recent wedding, at which he wore his military uniform.

One wrote: “Thoughts to his family, friends and comrades. God speed young warrior.

Another said:

“Thank you for serving our country, condolences to your family.”

A third added: “Rest In Peace and thank you for your service.”

One tribute read: “A loyal friend and much-loved comrade, Yudhi was known for his warmth, resilience and infectious positivity.

“He put others before himself, lifted those around him and embodied the bonds of friendship and service that unite the Household Cavalry family.”

His death has left his regiment and those closest to him mourning the loss of a young soldier whose military career began with a long-held ambition to serve in the British Army.
