A representative of actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna has filed a formal complaint with Cyber Crime authorities in Hyderabad.
The complaint seeks an investigation into fabricated content, manipulated screenshots, impersonation and targeted harassment directed at the couple.
The team has reportedly submitted supporting links and evidence to the authorities to assist in the examination of the circulating material.
According to a press note issued by the actors’ team, the complaint was submitted by P Nishanth Kumar.
He was identified in the document as the manager of both actors.
The team was careful to clarify that the action was not intended to suppress freedom of speech or prevent genuine criticism of the couple.
Instead, the complaint specifically seeks accountability for demonstrably false information and potentially unlawful conduct.
Social media users were urged to refrain from spreading unverified claims and stated that appropriate legal remedies would be pursued.
The controversy that triggered the online backlash began after Vijay and Rashmika discussed their relationship on Koffee With Karan 9.
During the episode, Rashmika recalled a moment at an airport where she turned to Vijay and said: “Let’s get married,” to which he replied:
“Okay, you ask me 100 times.”
She went on to reveal that she had actually asked him for an entire year before they eventually moved toward marriage.
Vijay explained during the conversation that he had wanted them to take their time before making such an enormously significant life decision.
However, several viewers interpreted his remarks differently, feeling that his response made Rashmika’s feelings appear entirely one-sided.
