the Caribbean star has built a strong connection with Indian audiences
West Indies Champions all-rounder Dwayne ‘DJ’ Bravo expressed his love for Bollywood, naming his favourite stars, film and song.
The former West Indies cricketer shared his entertainment favourites during an exclusive conversation with Cricketaaa’s cricket scholar Sunil Yash Kalra ahead of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) Grand Final in Sharjah, offering an insight into his interests beyond the cricket field.
Bravo named Shah Rukh Khan as his favourite actor and Deepika Padukone as his favourite actress.
When it came to films, the cricketer selected My Name Is Khan, the 2010 film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, as his favourite film.
He also picked ‘Lungi Dance’ from Chennai Express as his favourite song.
The choices reflect Bravo’s longstanding appreciation for Indian popular culture, which has complemented his cricketing career and musical ventures.
Known for his flamboyant style, infectious energy and signature dance moves, the Caribbean star has built a strong connection with Indian audiences through his performances on the field and his personality away from it.
During the conversation, Bravo also spoke about his love for Indian music and his influence on the dressing-room playlist, highlighting the role music plays in his life beyond cricket.
The conversation came as Bravo remained involved in the WCL action in the UAE, where he had captained West Indies Champions against David Warner’s Australia Champions in the semi-final, winning by five wickets.
In the final, Dwayne Bravo took three wickets as his side clinched their maiden World Championship of Legends (WCL) title.
West Indies Champions defeated England Champions by nine wickets at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Bravo’s performance earned him Player of the Match.
As Bravo’s chart-topping anthem ‘Champion’ played around the stadium, he and skipper Chris Gayle celebrated the victory with their trademark dance moves.
Bravo had also recently celebrated his 43rd birthday at a glittering party in Dubai hosted by West Indies Champions franchise owner Ajay Sethi, adding to a busy period for the all-rounder as he continued to combine his cricketing commitments with his wider entertainment interests.
Dwayne Bravo may have retired from international cricket but his contribution remains strong, as he is part of the Kolkata Knight Riders management as a mentor.
