Vijay Deverakonda has faced online criticism after revealing that Rashmika Mandanna repeatedly asked him about getting married during their appearance on Koffee With Karan 9.
During the show, the couple discussed how their relationship progressed towards marriage.
Karan asked Vijay whether he had proposed to Rashmika, who responded by shaking her head.
Vijay then explained how the subject of marriage had first come up between them.
“It’s not in me to propose,” Vijay said, recalling how Rashmika had initially suggested getting married while they were sitting at an airport.
He said: “She said, ‘ Let’s get married’.”
Turning to his wife, Vijay added: “You asked me like a 100 times.”
Karan then asked Rashmika whether she had really asked Vijay to marry her a hundred times, prompting her to clarify: “I asked him for a year.”
Vijay also defended himself during the conversation, saying: “I’m not an a*****e.”
The moment has gone viral, with many criticising Vijay’s remarks and suggesting Rashmika was more invested in the relationship.
One person commented: “She asked him 100 times to marry her? Even if it is true, why is he revealing it publicly? He’s kind of humiliating her. I don’t understand his attitude. She’s more successful than him.”
Another said: “I really get the ick when he makes it seem like he did her a favour by marrying her while she’s so enamoured by him.
