Indian actor Armaan Kohli has been denied bail amid his own drug case.

Kohli, aged 49, was arrested on Sunday, August 29, 2021, after narcotics were seized from his Mumbai residence.

India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had allegedly found a small quantity of cocaine which was taken for investigation.

The actor was allegedly found in an inebriated state at the time of the raid and he was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985.

The agency decided to target his residence after they had been questioning a suspect accused of dealing drugs and Kohli’s name cropped up in conversation.

The film star appeared in court on Thursday, October 14, 2021, as his lawyers argued that he was entitled to bail as only a small quantity of drugs were recovered.

Meanwhile, the NCB noted that Kohli had direct links to two people who have been accused of supplying a “commercial” quantity of contraband.

Judge AA Joglekar denied the appeal at the special NDPS court after a magistrate’s court also previously denied Kohli’s request.

Sameer Wankhede, the Zonal Director of NCB said:

“Apart from just consumption, there are several other charges levelled against him.”

He has also mentioned in the past that the agency launched Operation Rolling Thunder.

Operation Rolling Thunder is dedicated to cracking down on drug users and peddlers in India.

Armaan Kohli is the son of film director Rajkumar Kohli and actress Nishi and appeared in two of his father’s films as a child; Badle Ki Aag (1982) and Raaj Tilak (1984).

He made his debut as a leading actor in his father’s movie Virodhi (1992) alongside Harsha Mehra.

He then went on to star in various roles throughout the 1990s.

However, most were not successful at the box office, including Qahar (1997) starring Sunny Deol and Suniel Shetty.

In September 2013, Kohli appeared as a contestant on Bigg Boss 7.

He was evicted on the 98th day of the show. Bigg Boss 7 was eventually won by Gauahar Khan.

His stint on Bigg Boss 7 was a controversial one as he clashed with almost all his fellow contestants on the show.

Previously, Kohli was accused of verbal and physical abuse after a fashion designer claimed he and his friend began making unreasonable demands to her and threatened her.

Armaan Kohli is currently in judicial custody at Mumbai’s Arthur Road jail, the same place that Aryan Khan is being held amid his own high-profile drug case.
