A Karachi anti-terrorism court granted interim bail to well-known Pakistani television actor Muneeb Butt.

The actor was booked in connection with an alleged short-term kidnapping and robbery case that has shocked the entertainment industry.

The case originated from a complaint lodged at the Airport police station in Karachi by a man named Mutaal Khan.

According to the complainant, the incident unfolded on April 22, 2026, when he set out from his home heading to the airport.

He was travelling to Lahore and had boarded a cab to make his way to the airport when the situation took a dangerous turn.

A double-cabin vehicle carrying four armed men suddenly intercepted his cab and forced the journey to come to an abrupt halt.

At gunpoint, the armed men allegedly dragged him out of the vehicle under the false pretext that he had caused an accident.

What followed was a deeply traumatic ordeal during which the complainant was moved between several different locations across the city.

The alleged abductors eventually snatched his mobile phone before carrying out a significant unauthorised financial transaction from his account.

A total of 8,600 USDT was allegedly transferred out of the complainant’s account by those holding him against his will.

His laptop was also taken from him before he was eventually abandoned at an undisclosed location in the Korangi Industrial Area.

Following his release, Mutaal Khan lodged a formal complaint with the police, and the authorities responded by launching an investigation.

Four individuals identified as Hamza, Saalim, Shahid and Wazir were subsequently arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping and robbery.

Beyond these four, several additional suspects were also booked in the case, including a serving police constable and actor Muneeb Butt.

The complainant’s legal counsel, Advocate Syed Israr Ali Shah, shed light on how Muneeb came to be named.

He said the investigating officer had informed him that the actor was booked for allegedly facilitating at least two of the suspects.

The allegation specifically relates to the period when those two suspects were reportedly hiding in Islamabad following the alleged crime.

However, the actor’s actual involvement has not yet been confirmed.

Muneeb Butt responded to his legal situation promptly and took measured steps to protect himself through the appropriate legal channels.

He first approached the Islamabad High Court and secured a protective bail order before taking his next formal legal step.

The actor then voluntarily surrendered before the Karachi anti-terrorism court and formally moved a pre-arrest bail application before the bench.

After carefully hearing the arguments presented by the actor’s legal team, the court decided to grant him interim bail in the matter.

The interim bail was secured against a surety bond of Rs100,000, allowing the actor to remain free while the case proceeds further.

The court has fixed June 8, 2026, as the next date of hearing when the interim bail will be taken up for confirmation or otherwise.

Muneeb Butt is among the most prominent faces on Pakistani television, and his name in this case has generated widespread interest.
