"We’re keen to spread the word even further"

An Indian restaurant is opening its third Birmingham location as part of an expansion that will see it bring its popular street food to the Jewellery Quarter.

Indian Cafe Racer is opening a new eatery at St Paul’s Market, located at 4 Mary Ann Street, on November 4, 2026.

The restaurant already operates two sites on Bristol Street, with its original venue opening in 2022. A second location opened in 2025.

Azad Kayes, founder and owner of Indian Cafe Racer, said:

“We’re really excited to be opening a new kitchen venue at the vibrant St Paul’s Market.

“Our main restaurant on Bristol Street has become a real target for corporate diners in the city thanks to popular reviews in the national press.”

The new venue hopes to introduce Indian Cafe Racer to younger people and professionals living in and visiting the Jewellery Quarter.

Mr Kayes added: “We’re keen to spread the word even further and believe that taking space at St Paul’s Market will bring our brand to the attention of more young people and professionals who live in and visit that part of the city.

“The St Paul’s Market venue will hopefully not only be successful in its own right but will also help us to draw even more diners to enjoy our main restaurants on Bristol Street.”

The two existing Bristol Street locations currently employ 25 people, while four additional team members have been recruited for the new kitchen.

Indian Cafe Racer serves homestyle Indian street food inspired by the cafes, dhabas and roadside stalls of India.

Its interiors take inspiration from the vintage café racers of the 1960s, with warm lighting and dark wood creating a distinctive atmosphere.

The new kitchen will join a growing collection of independent food traders at St Paul’s Market, including Corner Shop Pizza, Colbeh, Tiger Bites Pig and Soi.

Joe Schuppler, co-founder of Saint Paul’s Market, said:

“We’re so excited for Indian Café Racer to bring authentic Indian flavours to Saint Paul’s Market.”

“We’re always looking to champion brilliant independents that bring something special to Jewellery Quarter’s food scene, and we can’t wait for visitors to discover their food.”

Indian Cafe Racer has attracted attention from national media, helping establish its reputation among Birmingham diners. Its latest opening marks another step in the restaurant’s growth as it looks to reach new customers across the city.
