"In India, we are focused on building long-term value"

UK-based music company Virtuoso Music has announced its strategic expansion into India, targeting one of the world’s fastest-growing music markets.

There is a focus on original music creation, rights management, artist development and distribution.

The company said it will establish operations across multiple areas of the music industry, working with Indian artists, songwriters and producers to create original music while building long-term infrastructure to support the country’s rapidly expanding music ecosystem.

According to the FICCI-EY Media and Entertainment Report 2026, India’s music industry grew by 10% in 2025 to reach Rs. 59 billion.

The sector is projected to grow at an annual rate of 9%, reaching Rs. 75 billion by 2028.

Virtuoso said its decision to enter the Indian market was driven by the country’s growing commercial potential and the diversity of its creative talent across languages, genres and generations.

The company plans to combine music creation, artist development and rights management under a creator-first business model, which it believes will help establish stronger and more sustainable relationships between artists and industry partners.

Virtuoso’s leadership described India as a strategic priority due to its position as one of the fastest-growing music markets globally and its cultural significance within the international music landscape.

The firm aims to introduce structures that better align the interests of creators and commercial partners over the long term, supporting investment in artists and providing greater opportunities for sustainable career development.

A senior Virtuoso Music executive said:

“We believe the future of the music ecosystem lies in ensuring that the people who create music have a genuine share in the success of their work.

“In India, we are focused on building long-term value for the artists and partners we work with.”

As part of its expansion plans, Virtuoso will produce original music across multiple genres and languages, collaborating with Indian creatives while developing repertoire with both domestic and international appeal.

The company also plans to invest directly in marketing and release infrastructure, providing commercial support alongside creative development.

It will work with artists and rights holders to manage and expand their catalogues while creating pathways to international markets through sync licensing, brand partnerships and strategic music placements.

Virtuoso said its approach is designed to extend the long-term commercial value of music created in India by connecting artists and rights holders with global opportunities.

The company’s first wave of original releases for the Indian market is already in production and will span Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu music.

These releases are expected to launch in early 2027.

Virtuoso added that it will announce its first artist and industry partnerships in the coming months as it continues to establish its presence in India’s evolving music sector.
