Formula 1 driver Arvid Lindblad will celebrate Diwali with a specially designed helmet that pays tribute to his Indian heritage.

The Visa Cash App Racing Bulls driver will wear the custom helmet at the São Paulo Grand Prix on November 8, with the race taking place on Diwali.

The helmet is a personal tribute to Lindblad’s Indian grandparents, who have played an important role in his life, and the values passed down through his family.

It also reflects the pride he takes in representing his heritage on a global sporting stage.

Diwali holds a special place in Lindblad’s life. Since childhood, he has celebrated the occasion with his maternal grandparents.

Arvid Lindblad played a key role in shaping the helmet’s design, combining contemporary elements with references to Diwali, his Punjabi heritage and the experiences that have influenced his career.

The intricate rangoli pattern at the top of the helmet forms the foundation of the design, with elements flowing down its sides.

The artwork draws inspiration from rangoli patterns Lindblad has created over the past few years, including one he made during last year’s Diwali celebrations.

A diya, one of the festival’s most recognisable symbols, is subtly integrated into the design to represent light, hope and joy. The front and rear of the helmet feature two further elements associated with Diwali: the lotus flower and traditional fireworks.

The lotus symbolises purity, resilience and the ability to rise above adversity, reflecting Lindblad’s belief that circumstances do not define a person and that determination and hard work can help shape their own path.

Meanwhile, the fireworks reflect celebrations enjoyed by families around the world, as well as Lindblad’s own memories of lighting diyas.

A Phulkari-inspired pattern forms the base of the helmet.

Lindblad said: “Celebrating Diwali with my family, especially my Nani and Nana, has always been a very important part of my upbringing.

“Bringing this special helmet to life is a meaningful moment, as it celebrates my Indian heritage and family roots that are such an important part of who I am.

“I was really involved in the creative process because I wanted to create something that felt cool, while staying true to the meaning and traditions of Diwali.

“The design brings together elements like rangoli, the lotus flower, diyas and fireworks in a way that feels personal to me.

“I can’t wait to get back in the car in Brazil wearing this helmet.”

“I know it will be an emotional moment, and I hope the helmet helps share the spirit of Diwali with people celebrating around the world. Happy Diwali.”

Racing Bulls will also be bringing the spirit of Diwali to Arvid Lindblad’s side of the garage during the São Paulo Grand Prix.

A dedicated “Happy Diwali” sticker will feature on the halo of his car, while the garage floor will showcase an intricate rangoli pattern, alongside a lotus flower and diya positioned above his surname.

The garage panels behind the car will also feature complementary rangoli-inspired designs, creating a visual connection between the helmet and the wider garage environment.

The celebrations will bring Lindblad’s family traditions and Indian heritage to the Formula 1 stage, with the driver hoping to share the spirit of Diwali with fans around the world.
