"Please prepare the dough, Mumma."
A little girl has won over social media after sharing an adorable cooking video in which she confidently demonstrates how to make dal dhokli.
Niyati Choudhary appears in the video dressed as a chef, complete with an apron and chef’s hat, as she looks into the camera and walks viewers through the ingredients and preparation.
Her enthusiasm is evident from the moment she begins, as she introduces the Gujarati dish and asks viewers whether they would like to try her cooking.
She says: “Do you want to eat the dal dhokli I make? I am going to prepare it. Would you like to have some?”
Niyati then takes moong dal and chana dal before carefully washing the pulses:
“We have to wash the pulses nicely.”
She then prepares the dough, listing the ingredients she needs, including wheat flour, gram flour, chilli, turmeric, coriander powder, salt, cumin seeds and asafoetida.
The youngster continues: “We’ll need a little wheat flour, a little gram flour, chilli, turmeric, coriander powder, salt, cumin seeds, a pinch of asafoetida; you have to mix it well.”
As she continues with the recipe, Niyati turns to her mother for assistance:
“Please prepare the dough, Mumma.”
With some help, the young chef continues explaining how the dal dhokli is prepared before demonstrating how to shape the pieces.
“This is how you prepare the dough. Then, you have to make small, round dhoklis out of it. Like this. Make them all the same way.”
The video eventually shows Niyati proudly sitting with a plateful of dal dhokli, ready to enjoy the dish she has helped prepare.
