"the same cannot be acceded to."
Diljit Dosanjh’s Delhi concert, scheduled for October 30, faces uncertainty as police deny permission, citing security concerns.
The concert, part of the singer’s Aura India Tour, was due to take place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and was set to open his latest India tour.
However, a letter sent to ticketing partner BookMyShow by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South District) said that permission for the event could not be granted.
The letter stated: “Sir, with reference to your application dated 14.10.2026 on the subject cited above, I am to inform you that your request for organising “Diljit Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour Delhi” at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, on 30.10.2026 has been examined by this office.
“In view of the specific threat-related inputs, coupled with the multifarious security and law and order commitments arising out of the ongoing festive season and other important law and order concerns, the same cannot be acceded to.”
Officers said Diljit had allegedly received threats from Khalistani separatist groups and had informed the police about them.
The reported decision to deny security clearance comes amid wider concerns about threats targeting high-profile figures in the entertainment industry.
In May 2026, shots were fired outside the Karnal home of Diljit’s manager, Gurpartap Singh Kang. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang allegedly claimed responsibility for the incident in social media posts.
The latest development also follows a shooting incident in Mumbai in which alleged shooters linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang opened fire at actor Tiger Shroff.
Eight people have been arrested in connection with the case.
Diljit Dosanjh has faced reported threats previously.
Ahead of his concert in Melbourne, Australia, on November 1, 2025, the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) group, led by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun and linked to Khalistani separatism, allegedly issued a threat against the singer.
The cancellation of the Delhi concert raises questions over the immediate future of the Aura India Tour, which was scheduled to continue across several Indian cities over the following month.
Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Bengaluru were among the destinations listed for the tour.
With the Delhi date intended to launch the run of performances, fans who had booked tickets will be awaiting further information from the organisers about the concert and any arrangements for ticket holders.
