"He is Chatur Lingam from 3 Idiots."

Ranbir Kapoor has become an unexpected social media talking point after a promotional appearance for Ramayana in Kolkata.

The actor was speaking at a promotional event about the message of Dussehra and its deep connection to the themes of the upcoming epic.

He said: “Dussehra reminds us of a beautiful truth.

“No matter how powerful evil may be, in the end, truth and goodness will end.”

The intended message was entirely clear to anyone familiar with the festival and the Ramayana story that Ranbir has been promoting extensively.

Dussehra celebrates the triumph of good over evil, specifically Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana.

However, the specific phrasing of his statement caught the attention of social media users.

The phrase, as delivered, appeared to suggest that truth and goodness would ultimately end.

The irony of an actor playing Lord Rama inadvertently predicting the defeat of good over evil was not lost on the internet.

One X user wrote: “Bro is playing Lord Ram in Ramayana and already giving the industry a lesson in how to tempt fate before a movie’s release.

“Because if the movie flops, the same people will start questioning every little thing…

“And suddenly the dialogue becomes, ‘Social media is not good for mental health.'”

Another user took a more politically charged approach, writing”

“Seems like Rahul Gandhi wrote Ranbir Kapoor’s speech here.”

A third commenter reached for a Bollywood reference, writing simply: “He is Chatur Lingam from 3 Idiots.”

The clip has been widely shared and memed across platforms.

It has turned a routine promotional moment into one of the more entertaining talking points of the Ramayana campaign.

The episode is not the first time the Ramayana promotional team has found itself in an unintentionally amusing situation.

Producer and distributor Dil Raju had previously sparked laughs at the film’s pre-release event in Hyderabad.

There, he had accidentally referred to Ranbir Kapoor by the wrong name entirely.

While praising the actor’s craft at the Hyderabad event, Dil Raju said:

“We have seen all his films. One of the best actors, the best hero is Ranveer Singh garu, sorry, Ranbir Kapoor Garu.”

Despite the viral slip-up, anticipation for Ramayana remains at an extraordinarily high level as its release on November 5, 2026 approaches.
