"Maryam Nawaz is officially in her Bilawal era."

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unintentionally become the latest source of internet comedy after an awkward slip of the tongue.

During her visit to flood-hit areas, she addressed the media and described the downpour as unprecedented.

What caught everyone off guard was her follow-up explanation that torrential rain had been caused by the rains themselves.

The brief moment instantly set social media ablaze, with users declaring it “PML N’s version of Bilawal’s legendary rain quote.”

Back in 2019, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was widely mocked for saying:

“When it rains, water comes. When it rains more, more water comes.”

Maryam’s version has now entered the same hall of fame.

One netizen said: “Maryam Nawaz is officially in her Bilawal era.”

The moment became meme fuel within minutes as users churned out their own creative parodies.

One trend saw people listing obvious causes, with examples like “sleep causes sleepiness” and “headaches make your head hurt.”

Others joined in with jokes like “lonely because I am alone”, keeping the banter alive.

Another user reminded followers that Maryam actually holds a Master’s degree in English Literature, sparking even more sarcastic commentary.

One tweet compared the remark to job interviews, saying:

“This is me during interviews, also an English literature graduate btw.”

The humour is typical of Pakistani internet culture, which rarely misses a chance to transform political slips into meme history.

In April 2025, memes even emerged from a near-war scenario, proving that satire always finds its stage.

Maryam’s rain remark is being celebrated in the same vein, a reminder that laughter often follows political blunders.

Some users joked that Pakistan is blessed with politicians who provide never-ending entertainment along with occasional governance.

Others went further, compiling mashups of Bilawal’s quote with Maryam’s words to create a running joke across platforms.

The meme fest also revived memories of Bilawal’s 2022 rally in Islamabad, where his tongue famously twisted mid-speech.

Instead of saying ‘taangein kaamp rahi hain’, Bilawal declared:

“Islamabad may kaampein taang rahi hai.”

His phrase shivers are legging is still referenced today, and many believe Maryam’s slip has joined that league.

While such mistakes are minor and often innocent, the internet refuses to let them pass without immortalising them through humour.

For now, Pakistanis seem united on one conclusion: their leaders may fumble words but never fail at providing meme content.
