They frequently spent time with each other and grew close.
The marriage of two young women has come to light. This came after the two lovers ran away.
The matter happened in Haryana.
It was reported that in November 2021, the lovers ran away together.
When their families found out, they informed the police. Two months later, officers located them in Haryana. When questioned, the two young women revealed they had married.
Mamta is from Churu, Rajasthan while Krishna is originally from Haryana.
Police said the couple are already related as one of Mamta’s family members had married one of Krishna’s family members.
The matter first came to light in November 2021 when Mamta’s father Banshilal filed a missing person case.
During the investigation, police located Mamta in Haryana.
When officers reached there with Mamta’s parents, the lovers revealed that they ran away and got married in Fatehabad.
The couple went to Adampur Police Station where they stated that they love each other.
Krishna had moved to her sister-in-law’s house in Rajasthan sometime in 2021. The 22-year-old soon became friends with 18-year-old Mamta.
They frequently spent time with each other and grew close.
They soon entered a relationship and kept it a secret from their families. Eventually, they ran away together to get married.
Since getting married, the couple has been living together in Jind, Haryana.
Mamta told officers that she wants to live an independent life.
At the same time, Krishna said that she and Mamta love each other and want to be together.
Officers said that while they have no issue with them being together, they do not have marriage documents.
This means that they are not legally married even though they believed they were, having had a ceremony.
Following the revelation, Banshilal did not accept the same-sex relationship.
He bizarrely claimed that his daughter was the victim of witchcraft, stating that his daughter is not attracted to women.
Banshilal went on to say that Mamta has been pressured to do such things.
Despite her father’s claims, Mamta stood by her explanation, insisting that she wanted to live with Krishna.
Officers concluded that those involved were adults and have permitted them to go with each other.
The two young women have returned to their home in Haryana.
