"Finding the next generation of presenting talent is crucial"

BBC Asian Network is searching for new presenters ahead of the return of Asian Network Represents after a three-year hiatus.

The programme will return to the station in April 2026, marking a renewed focus on developing emerging British Asian broadcasting talent.

As part of the relaunch, Asian Network is looking for 12 undiscovered voices who live and breathe British Asian culture, music and entertainment.

The station says successful applicants must have the confidence to engage new and existing listeners across the airwaves.

BBC Asian Network has positioned the initiative as part of its long-standing commitment to nurturing new voices within the industry.

The scheme will give selected presenters the chance to broadcast on the UK’s largest Asian radio station.

It is also intended to act as a springboard for emerging presenters aiming to build careers in national radio and the wider media industry.

Between April 2026 and March 2027, the final 12 presenters will each host four Asian Network Represents shows.

The programmes will air every Tuesday from 10 pm to 11 pm.

Asian Network Represents will replace One More Chai, which ends on March 31, after two years on the network.

Applications are now open via the BBC Asian Network website. They close at 11: 59 pm on February 22.

The opportunity is open to everyone, regardless of previous experience in radio or podcasts.

Ahmed Hussain, Head of Asian Network, says: “Asian Network Represents is such an exciting brand for us and I’m genuinely thrilled to be bringing it back to the station.

“Finding the next generation of presenting talent is crucial, not just for Asian Network but for the wider industry.

“There are so many incredible British Asian voices out there and we want to give them the platform, support and space to grow and get paid for it!

“For everyone who has been asking for the opportunity, this is your chance!”

“We will continue championing voices from across the UK, so wherever you are and whatever your experience, I encourage you to send in a demo.

“I’d also like to thank Gura and SMASH for their work on the One More Chai team over the past two years.

“I’m sure they’ll both continue to bring fantastic energy to their weekend shows.”

From April, Asian Network Represents will broadcast every Tuesday from 10 pm to 11 pm. The programme will be available on BBC Asian Network and BBC Sounds.
