"reflects the voices, concerns and passions of British Asians today."
BBC Asian Network has announced a new schedule that gets underway from October 27, 2025.
Among the changes is a brand-new speech and current affairs programme, Asian Network Trending, will air every Wednesday from 8 pm to 10 pm.
The two-hour show will be broken into two segments.
The first hour of the show will examine the biggest trending stories from across the week, while the second hour will delve into a specific topic or issue affecting British Asians today, with special guests joining each week to provide additional knowledge and context to the show.
Asian Network Trending will be presented on a rotational basis.
It will be fronted initially by broadcaster, DJ and producer Amber Haque.
Amber Haque has made documentaries and podcasts for BBC Three, Channel 4 and BBC Sounds.
In further changes to BBC Asian Network, The New Music Show with DJ Limelight moves from Wednesday to Monday, 8 pm to 10 pm.
Asian Network Motivation will air from 10 pm to 11 pm on Monday. One More Chai will shift to Tuesdays and broadcast at 10 pm.
Ahmed Hussain, Head of Asian Network, says:
“I’m incredibly excited to launch Asian Network Trending – a bold new space for speech, discussion and current affairs that reflects the voices, concerns and passions of British Asians today.
“This show gives us the freedom to dive deep into the stories that matter most to our audience, in the distinctive style only Asian Network can deliver.
“It’s a unique platform where trending topics meet cultural nuance, and where our presenters and guests can explore issues with real depth, honesty and flair.”
The revisions aim to strengthen the station’s mix of music, speech and specialist programming.
Asian Network says the new slot will create more opportunities for sustained debate and cultural storytelling. The station will commission short-form explainers and extended interviews online.
The content will aim for clarity, relevance and cultural resonance. Listeners can find schedules and episode details on the BBC Asian Network website.
It comes after the announcement of BBC Asian Network’s flagship live music event, Asian Network Certified.
Headlined by Dr Zeus, the event will take place on November 15, 2025, at XOYO Birmingham.
