The film takes its name from India’s military operation.
Actor Kartik Aaryan is set to play the lead role in filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film, Operation Sindoor.
The film is inspired by real events and is based on Lieutenant General KJS ‘Tiny’ Dhillon’s book on the subject.
That book is titled Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan.
According to reports, Kartik will begin work after completing his current project first.
That project is Captain India, directed by filmmaker Shimit Amin.
The film is set against the backdrop of the ongoing Houthi conflict in Yemen.
Captain India is currently in production, as per the latest available reports.
Operation Sindoor marks the first collaboration between Kartik Aaryan and director Vivek Agnihotri.
Agnihotri is known for directing films such as The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files.
He has also directed The Vaccine War and The Bengal Files in recent years.
The upcoming film will be backed by Bhushan Kumar’s T Series production house.
It will also be backed by Agnihotri’s own production banner, I Am Buddha Productions.
Agnihotri had announced the project on social media earlier in March 2026.
He described it as a story rooted in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.
The filmmaker said the film was developed through extensive research conducted on the ground.
This research was carried out in collaboration with different wings of the Indian Armed Forces.
The film takes its name from India’s military operation launched after the Pahalgam attack.
That terror attack had taken place in April 2025, as per earlier reports.
Further details about the film, including its release date, have not been announced yet.
The rest of the film’s cast also remains unconfirmed at this point in time.
Kartik Aaryan currently has several other projects lined up across different genres.
He will next be seen in the creature feature Naagzilla, releasing in theatres soon.
The film is scheduled to release on February 12, 2027, in cinemas.
It is produced by Karan Johar and Mahaveer Jain for the big screen.
The film is directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, known for the Fukrey franchise.
It will also mark actor Preity Mukhundhan’s debut in Hindi cinema.
The actor is also set to reunite with Sreeleela for another upcoming project.
That project is an untitled musical romantic drama directed by filmmaker Anurag Basu.
It is produced by Bhushan Kumar and scheduled for release on April 30, 2027.
Kartik Aaryan will also reunite with director Kabir Khan after their earlier film, Chandu Champion.
Their next project is an untitled biographical sports drama based on Kashmiri athlete Tajamul Islam.
