Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has officially confirmed his next ambitious feature film, titled Operation Sindoor, to the public.
This cinematic project focuses on the military response of India to the April 2025 Pahalgam attack.
The upcoming movie is a joint production between I Am Buddha Production and the famous music label, T Series.
Bhushan Kumar has joined hands with the director to bring this intense historical event to the big screen.
The narrative finds its roots in a book written by Lieutenant General KJS Tiny Dhillon about deep strikes.
This specific book is titled Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan.
The actual military operation took place between the dates of May 6 and May 10 in the year 2025.
It serves as a direct retaliation to the tragic events that occurred in Jammu and Kashmir.
Agnihotri is known for his investigative trilogy, including The Tashkent Files and the very popular movie The Kashmir Files.
His most recent release before this announcement was The Bengal Files, which was originally titled The Delhi Files.
Speaking about this new project, Agnihotri explained why he chose to tell such challenging stories to his loyal audience.
“I have always believed in telling stories that are uncomfortable but necessary.
“My effort is to bring this story of courage, professionalism, and strategic clarity to audiences with authenticity, while also presenting it as an edge-of-the-seat cinematic experience”
The director also mentioned that his team has conducted very extensive ground-level research for this historical feature film.
They have collaborated with multiple wings of the Armed Forces to ensure total accuracy in the upcoming theatrical movie.
The filmmaker wants to understand exactly how and why these significant military events happened during the secret operations.
He noted that what emerges from their study is far more complex than the information currently available to the public.
Producer Bhushan Kumar also shared his personal thoughts on why this story needed a proper cinematic documentation today.
He stated: “Some stories are not chosen; they choose you. Operation Sindoor is one such story.
“When a nation goes through events of such magnitude, it becomes important to document them truthfully.”
Details regarding the lead cast and the official release timeline for this film have not been disclosed yet.
The film promises to deliver a blend of emotional depth and high-stakes action for modern movie viewers.
