"Whole ecosystem is only about showing off"
Vivek Agnihotri posted a tweet that some social media users believed threw shade at Parineeti Chopra’s engagement.
For months, the actress was rumoured to be dating politician Raghav Chadha.
However, neither person addressed the relationship.
The relationship was finally confirmed on May 13, 2023, when the pair got engaged in a lavish ceremony.
For the ceremony, the couple matched in white.
Parineeti wore a long-sleeved suit from Manish Malhotra. She kept her hair loose and completed the look with heavy earrings and a maang tikka and rings.
The neckline of the suit was adorned with a string of pearls.
Meanwhile, Raghav wore an Achkan designed by Pawan Sachdev.
Sharing pictures of the ceremony, Parineeti wrote:
“Everything I prayed for… I said yes!”
While many posted congratulatory messages, a tweet from Vivek Agnihotri received a lot of attention.
Recalling a wedding he attended, Vivek tweeted:
“People are getting married just to get wedding photos, videos and to get ‘destination wedding’ tag for show off.
“A wedding planner told me. It’s true I was in a destination wedding and someone said that the wedding photographer is going to be late and the bride fainted.”

Some agreed with the filmmaker.
One wrote: “I was at a wedding, where they wanted to do the jaimala a second time as the photographer’s view was slightly blocked, thankfully better sense prevailed.”
Vivek responded: “I can totally visualise this.”
Another commented: “Whole ecosystem is only about showing off these days sir.”
The timing of the tweet led some to believe that it was a subtle dig at Parineeti and Raghav’s engagement.
A user said: “All effects of Bollywood. Middle-class has suddenly got money and doesn’t know how to use it sensibly…”
Another agreed: “Totally agree….it started right after Virat and Anushka’s wedding but theirs were so natural, authentic, and cultured, not showing off.
“But now all they want is just to capture fake moments for social media… cringe stuff.”

However, some criticised Vivek Agnihotri for his comments.
A netizen said: “That’s a stupid exaggerated wedding photographer’s view.
“Yes, people are more into ‘show off’ but saying they are getting married just to show off is laughable.”
Accusing the filmmaker of being two-faced, another said:
“Hope your friends see this tweet and realise that you are tweeting and gossiping after attending their celebratory functions.”
