"I felt I should speak in a way they would understand better"
Yo Yo Honey Singh broke his silence on his controversial sex comments made at a Delhi concert.
Taking to Instagram, the artist claimed his remarks were intended to educate Gen Z audiences about sexually transmitted diseases.
Singh said the comments were made following conversations with medical professionals who raised concerns about unsafe sex among younger people.
In a video, he said: “Before going to this show, I had lunch with a few gynaecologists and sexologists, who told me that the current generation is battling sexually transmitted diseases because of unsafe sex.
“When I went to the show and saw the Gen Z audience, I thought I would give them a message in their language to not have unprotected sex and to use condoms.
“I felt I should speak in a way they would understand better, the kind of language that is commonly used in OTT content and films these days, which Gen Z watches a lot.”
Acknowledging that his remarks had caused offence, Singh said he regretted his choice of words and apologised:
“A lot of people were hurt by the language I used. I sincerely apologise to everyone who was offended. I never intended to hurt anyone.
“Humans make mistakes. I will try not to repeat it.
“In the future, I will be more careful about how I say things, who I am speaking to, and how my words can be edited or presented differently from what I intended.
“I apologise to all of you. This is your Yo Yo Honey Singh, keep loving me.”

Singh had caused controversy when he noticed a large number of Gen Z people in the crowd during his Delhi concert.
During the performance, he said: “It’s so cold in Delhi. It’s fun to have sex in a car in this weather.
“So have sex in the car in Delhi’s cold, but use condoms, guys. Please play safe.”
A video of the moment went viral and sparked backlash, with many deeming his remark “inappropriate” and “sleazy”.

One wrote: “Is he trying to prove that for some people, all breaks, therapies and self-work do absolutely nothing because eventually you can’t learn sense and decency.”
Another said: “His rise to fame began with a vulgar song that reduced Indian women to mere sexual objects.
“That track brought him money and attention because it catered perfectly to what a indian perverted audience enjoys. That, essentially, is his core identity.”
Others called him “Horny Singh” and “Yo Yo Horny Singh”.
His apology on the matter prompted mixed reactions, with some supporting his intent. However, others continued to criticise how the message was delivered.
