"What happens in the industry comes second to his well-being."
Hanumankind weighed in on Arijit Singh’s decision to step away from playback singing, urging respect for the singer’s choice and mental well-being.
The rapper said Arijit’s decision should be understood within the context of creative pressure and personal limits.
He said: “Aijit comes from a different space.
“The man made the decision for himself. It deserves respect because there’s weight he carries with his work and he’s the only one that carries that.
“What happens in the industry comes second to his well-being.”
Hanumankind also reflected on creative burnout and the dangers of glorifying constant hustle within the music industry.
“Don’t focus on the music too long. If you burn too bright, it can consume you. Take a step back. Too much of a good thing can become a bad thing.”
Hanumankind urged creators to recognise stress early and take active steps to protect their mental breathing room. He said ignoring warning signs often leads to long-term consequences.
He added: “Learn to recognise that and figure out ways to let go. If you don’t have space, try and find it.
“Don’t blame people for crashing out and burning. Life is stressful. Sometimes it feels like everybody’s out to get you.”
On January 26, 2026, Arijit Singh announced he would no longer accept new playback singing assignments.
He posted on Instagram: “Hello, Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much love all these years as listeners.
“I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”
Shortly after, Arijit clarified that the decision was not impulsive or driven by a single incident.
He shared: “One of the reasons is simple, I get bored pretty quick, that’s why I keep changing arrangements of the same songs and perform them on stage.
“So here is the thing, I got bored. I need to do some other music to live.”
Arijit also expressed a desire to create space for emerging voices within the industry. He said stepping back could allow fresh talent to flourish and inspire him in return.
Despite leaving playback singing, Arijit reassured fans that music would remain central to his life. He revealed plans to focus on his own compositions.
The singer also said he hopes to return to Indian classical music when the time feels right, signalling a shift rather than an exit from music.
