Music composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal is facing fresh cheating allegations just over a month after his wedding to cricketer Smriti Mandhana was called off.
The controversy follows allegations linked to a film project and a pending police complaint in Maharashtra.
It is reported that actor and producer Vidnyan Mane approached the police in Sangli district, accusing Palash of cheating him over a film titled Nazaria.
Vidnyan reportedly submitted an application to the Superintendent of Police requesting the registration of a First Information Report.
According to the complaint, Vidnyan and Palash met in Sangli on December 5, 2023. At the meeting, Vidnyan expressed interest in investing in film production.
Palash allegedly invited him to join Nazaria as a producer, promising profits of up to Rs. 12 lakh on a Rs. 25 lakh investment once the film launched on streaming platforms.
Vidnyan was also reportedly offered an acting role in the project.
After two follow-up meetings, he allegedly transferred a total of Rs. 40 lakh to Palash by March 2025, but the film remained incomplete.
The complaint states that when Vidnyan later requested a refund, he received no response, leading him to escalate the matter to the police.
Officials confirmed that no FIR has been registered so far and that a preliminary inquiry is underway.
The latest claims have emerged shortly after Palash announced his upcoming directorial project starring Shreyas Talpade, adding further scrutiny to his professional conduct.
Palash Muchhal was in the public eye in December 2025 after the cancellation of his wedding to Smriti Mandhana.
The wedding announcement initially attracted widespread attention before plans were halted due to illness in Smriti’s family.
There were also claims that it was due to Palash’s alleged infidelity.
Palash later addressed speculation through an Instagram post, writing:
“It’s been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me.
“It’s the most difficult phase of my life and I will deal with it gracefully holding on to my beliefs.”
Both Smriti and Palash released statements on the wedding cancellation.
Smriti posted: “Over the past few weeks, there has been plenty of speculation around my life and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time.
“I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off.”
Palash Muchhal’s statement read: “I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship.”
