"exploited by those who choose to gain cheap media attention"
Nikhil Patel has taken legal action against his estranged wife Dalljiet Kaur, issuing her a “written cease and desist letter”.
This is over Dalljiet’s Instagram posts that claimed Nikhil had cheated on her.
Stating that he will not tolerate any more harassment from her, Nikhil said his legal team will take “the sternest legal action available against Dalljiet should she continue with her unlawful actions”.
He elaborated: “As a normal citizen of the world, it is very disturbing to see how the gaps in online protection laws, both in India and globally, can, and are, often exploited by those who choose to gain cheap media attention through careless actions that place innocent children and women at risk.”
Citing their wedding video, which Dalljiet had briefly shared on Instagram before deleting, Nikhil continued:
“Sharing pictures and video footage without consent of those involved, particularly in the case of children, who are always a vulnerable group in society and who always require protection of the law, is illegal and negligent.”
His team has informed Dalljiet Kaur that she has until the end of June to take any remaining belongings from his Kenya home otherwise they will be donated to charity.
Nikhil said he has no obligation to store them for her and has requested her numerous times to collect them.
Nikhil previously broke his silence on the cheating allegations.
He said: “In January this year, Dalljiet decided to leave Kenya with her son Jaydon and return to India, which ultimately led to our separation.
“We both realised that the foundation of our blended family wasn’t as strong as we had hoped, making it hard for Dalljiet to settle in Kenya.
“In March 2023, we held an Indian wedding ceremony in Mumbai.
“Though it held cultural significance, it was not legally binding. This ceremony was intended to reassure Dalljiet’s family about her move to Kenya.
“Despite our efforts, Dalljiet found it challenging to adjust to life in Kenya, missing her career and life in India.
“The complexities of our family dynamics became increasingly apparent.”
“This proved to be challenging for us due to cultural clashes, different values and beliefs, and this was something that began to develop as the relationship matured.
“Dalljiet informed me, her son’s school and others on the day she decided to leave that she did not plan to return to Kenya.
“Her departure marked the end of our relationship for me, and despite her concerning social media activity over the past five months, I have found closure and solace, moving forward positively.”
Calling her social media posts “impulsive”, Nikhil said they “have caused confusion and distress” among his friends and family.
He said his estranged wife “has expressed a desire to return” to his life and “has crossed boundaries”.
Stating that her posts have been “misinterpreted, resulting in unnecessary harassment of family and friends unrelated to this situation”, Nikhil added that he hopes Dalljiet “stops this behaviour”.
