The family has denied all allegations.
The legal battle between actor Celina Jaitly and her estranged husband, Peter Haag, has taken an escalating turn.
Mumbai-based law firm Semwal & Co. has confirmed that two separate legal notices have been issued to Celina on behalf of Peter Haag and his family.
One notice has been sent by Peter himself, both in his personal capacity and as a father deeply concerned about the welfare of their children.
The second notice has been issued by his father, DI Wolfgang J. Haag, the paternal grandfather of the couple’s three children.
The notices accuse Celina of circulating false, defamatory, misleading and sensationalised statements through interviews, social media and media interactions.
These alleged statements have reportedly been made both in India and abroad during the couple’s ongoing matrimonial and custody dispute.
The legal development comes weeks after an FIR was reportedly filed against Peter Haag in Mumbai following allegations made by Celina.
That FIR included charges linked to domestic violence, cruelty, physical harm, criminal intimidation and harassment under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Authorities also reportedly issued a Look Out Circular against Peter after allegations of non-cooperation during the course of the investigation.
Celina had additionally filed proceedings under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 as part of her legal efforts.
Reports further stated that she sought monthly maintenance of Rs 10 lakh and compensation of Rs 50 crore through the ongoing legal proceedings.
She also alleged that Peter had restricted her access to their children, who are currently residing in Austria.
The matrimonial and child custody proceedings between Celina and Peter are currently ongoing before courts in Austria at this stage.
Despite the matter being sub judice, the notices allege that defamatory public statements and unverified allegations have continued to circulate widely.
Peter’s legal team stated that the family had deliberately stayed silent for a considerable period in the hope of maintaining some level of privacy.
However, they say the continued media attention and persistent allegations have now forced them to pursue formal and decisive legal action.
The notices specifically address several serious allegations that have surfaced and circulated publicly in the months preceding this legal development.
These include accusations portraying Peter as abusive and emotionally oppressive towards both Celina and the children.
The family has denied all allegations related to domestic violence, emotional abuse, intimidation, harassment and concealment of the children.
