“I definitely will put Owais in his place. Don't worry about that.”
As the youngest ever contestant on The Apprentice at 22, Solomon Akhtar impressed with his business acumen and entrepreneurial nous.
He now wants to make his mark in Gurinder Chadha’s iconic reality TV show, Desi Rascals.
The self-proclaimed ‘Desi Dog’ has already singled out Owais and wants to take his mantle as the Desi Rascals Alpha Male.
Solly also has his eye on the ladies. Which of the Desi girls does he have ‘the hots’ for?
DESIblitz speaks exclusively to Solomon about The Apprentice, Owais, girls, and Desi Rascals.
How was your experience of The Apprentice?
“It was amazing. To be on the show, to be a part of that, and to meet Lord Sugar. And just to prove myself in business.
“Especially as I was a youngster on the show. It was a massive opportunity. And I took it for everything it was. It was an amazing experience.
“But at the same time, I wanted to show that I’m a real person. I’m not just about business. I do have a fun side.”
Was some of that real side shown by flirting with Karren and Claudine on the show?
“Karren Brady is a very attractive woman, isn’t she? Let’s not beat around the bush.
“I didn’t flirt with her to get in front of the competition. It was more friendly, you know. When you’re filming for four months at a time, you’ve got to have a bit of fun.”
How did you react to the news that a sex tape of yours had surfaced?
“It was a shock obviously, to wake up, and for that to be on the front cover of the newspaper.
“Being thrown into the public eye was a massive learning curve. And to do that at such a young age was very hard.
“But I took it with a pinch of salt. Stuff happens. You move on, and you have fun with it. When I look back, I think things happen for a reason.
“When you open your life up to Desi Rascals, reality TV, and the public, you have to be prepared to have a few skeletons in your closet.
“I’m a normal person, right? Everyone’s got skeletons in their closet.”
Why Desi Rascals?
“I was offered to go on Made in Chelsea and a few other shows. And for me, Desi Rascals is real. That’s the main reason. It is real.
“Everything on that show is going to be real. You are going to see the real me.
“You’re going to see drama. You’re going to see love. You’re going to see the real Solly.
“I think that is what is exciting for the viewers. And I wanted to do it because it is cultured. It is not trashy. It is real TV. That’s what excites me.”
How would you describe Solomon Akhtar?
“Work hard, Play hard! I work bloody hard on my business. But at the same time I’m prepared to have a lot of fun. I party hard. I have a really great social life.
“In three words: Flirty, Fun, and…er…Carefree. Alpha Dog. Tiger. Maybe Lion.”
Who do you see yourself as getting on with well?
“I’ve met Shmoyel quite a few times. And he went to the same school as me. Because of that, I think me and Shmoyel are going to get on very well.
“I think Owais is intimidated by my profile a little bit. The thing is I don’t have any time for him. I want to go on there and be my own person.
“I’m looking forward to meeting him. I’m looking forward to what’s gonna go on screen. You guys are going to be in for a treat.”
What do you not like about Owais?
“Everything. I think he’s a bit fake to be honest.
“He calls himself the ‘Big Bad Wolf’. Who calls themselves the ‘Big Bad Wolf’?
“He’s a bit intimidated because it’s his show, and we’re coming on there. And he doesn’t want someone to take over his spot as alpha male.
“I am the younger version of him. I’m the younger, better-looking version of Owais.”
“And I can’t wait to show that on screen. I definitely will put Owais in his place. Don’t worry about that.”
What kind of girls do you go for? Are there any girls that take your fancy?
“I’m bored of fake girls. After The Apprentice, a lot of fake people came speaking to me on Twitter and in my life. I’m bored of that.
“I want to find someone real. I want to find someone cultural. That I’ve got a connection with.
“This probably sounds quite cheeky. But I think Yasmin and I could be quite a fit. She’s been tweeting me, with the emoji, you know the little sassy kiss one.
“I can’t wait to meet her. She’s like a mermaid, isn’t she? She’s like a lovely mermaid.
“And I’m a…not a piranha. But I would eat her. More like a…er…like a Finding Nemo fish.
“I think you’re going to see a lot love. I want to fall in love. If I can find the girl of my dreams.”
Will Solomon put Owais in his place and reign supreme? And will Solly fall in love with the girl of his dreams?
