Prime Video has unveiled the trailer for Bait. Starring Riz Ahmed, the comedy series follows a struggling actor whose life unravels after a career-defining audition sparks global attention.

Ahmed plays Shah Latif, an actor whose career has stalled until a final opportunity appears in the form of a major audition.

What should be a turning point quickly becomes overwhelming as personal relationships and public scrutiny collide.

The series unfolds across four chaotic days as Shah’s family, his ex-lover and the wider public debate whether he deserves the role.

The moment he hoped would revive his career soon becomes a pressure cooker that exposes his insecurities and ambitions.

Bait begins with a striking opening sequence in which Shah performs a tuxedoed screen test for the role of James Bond.

The moment presents him with the debonair confidence many once predicted Ahmed himself could bring to the iconic spy.

Events escalate when a paparazzo photographs Shah leaving the audition. The images spread quickly online and trigger widespread speculation that he has been chosen as the next Bond.

Public reaction initially works in his favour.

TikTok users celebrate the possibility of the first non-white Bond, and Shah suddenly finds himself at the centre of a global conversation.

However, the excitement soon turns darker when a severed pig’s head is thrown through the window of his Muslim parents’ home, signalling a racist backlash that begins to shake Shah’s confidence.

From that moment, the pressure surrounding the role intensifies.

The attention he once believed would revive his career begins to unravel his mental state as the scrutiny grows louder.

Riz Ahmed also plays a significant role behind the camera. He co-showruns the series with Ben Karlin and executive produces alongside Allie Moore and Jake Fuller.

A strong supporting cast further shapes the story around Shah’s rapidly changing world. The series also stars Guz Khan, Sheeba Chaddha, Sajid Hasan, Aasiya Shah, Weruche Opia and Ritu Arya.

Their performances allow Bait to balance chaotic public attention with the personal relationships surrounding Shah as he attempts to navigate a moment that could either define or destroy his career.

Bait premieres on March 25, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video, with all six episodes available to stream worldwide on launch day.
