“This is something I've never done before.”
Breaking Borders, the world’s largest Desi destination festival, will return to Malta between September 3 and 6, 2026.
Following a hugely successful 2025 edition, the festival promises four days and nights celebrating South Asian music, culture and community on the Mediterranean island.
Fans from across the globe are expected to travel to Malta for the immersive event, which blends live performances, DJ sets and vibrant Desi nightlife.
Organisers say the 2026 festival will build on last year’s momentum while spotlighting some of the biggest names in the South Asian music scene.
Leading the lineup is Punjabi superstar Karan Aujla, who will headline two nights across the weekend.
Aujla will perform on Friday and Sunday, delivering two completely different setlists in what marks a first in his career.
The artist expressed excitement about returning to the festival and performing for global Desi audiences.
He said: “2025 was just the beginning, and 2026 is about to be something special.”
Aujla added: “This year, I got a chance to headline two nights with two different setlists.”
“This is something I’ve never done before.”
The singer also highlighted the cultural significance of the event for the South Asian diaspora worldwide.
He said: “This festival represents Desi culture on a global stage, and being a part of that journey means a lot to me.”
Aujla encouraged fans who missed the previous edition to attend this year’s celebration.
He added, “If you were there last time, you already know. If you missed it, this is your chance. See you guys there, let’s have fun!”
Joining the lineup as Saturday’s headliner is global hitmaker AP Dhillon.
Dhillon shared his excitement about performing at the event and celebrating Desi culture with fans.
He said, “Malta, I’m coming through. Proud to see how far our community’s reached.”
Dhillon added, “Can’t wait to headline Saturday and put on a show to remember. See you all there.”
The festival’s lineup also features a strong roster of internationally recognised South Asian artists.
These include Jasmine Sandlas, Sukha and The PropheC.
Fans can also expect performances from Tegi Pannu and Harkirat Sangha.
Veteran bhangra star Panjabi MC will also take to the stage during the weekend.
Other acts confirmed for the lineup include Miss Pooja, Prabh and BK.
Alongside live performances, curated takeovers from Desi Beatz and Jawani 4eva will spotlight leading South Asian DJs and voices.
These sets aim to keep the festival’s party energy alive throughout the weekend.
Presale tickets for Breaking Borders 2026 will be available from 10 am GMT on Sunday, March 8.
General ticket sales will begin at 10 am GMT on Monday, March 9, through the festival’s official website.
