“We prefer to take our time and deliver a well-finished film"

Two much-anticipated films, Shironaam and Nadan, have pulled out of the Eid-ul-Azha release lineup.

Initially, around twelve films were expected to hit theatres during the holiday, but this sudden change has left fans surprised and disappointed.

Shironaam, directed by Anik Biswas, had generated significant buzz after its first-look poster was revealed on May 21, 2025.

The poster featured Nirab Hossain in a striking avatar, sporting long hair, black sunglasses, layered chains, and a black leather jacket.

He plays a character named Ibrahim, and the look suggested a bold, edgy role.

The film was marketed as an Eid release from day one. However, despite the excitement, some parts of the shoot remained incomplete.

In a statement, Nirab confirmed the delay.

He said: “When we announced the release, there were still five or six days of shooting left. We could have rushed it, but we didn’t want to compromise on any aspect.

“We prefer to take our time and deliver a well-finished film to the audience because Shironaam has a very strong story.”

Eamin Haque Bobby stars opposite Nirab in the film.

It also features well-known names such as Omar Sani, Salahuddin Lavlu, Shatabdi Wadud, Kachi Khandaker, Farzana Chobi, and Dilruba Doyel.

With such a diverse and seasoned cast, expectations had been high.

The delay, while disappointing, seems to come from a place of creative integrity.

Meanwhile, Farhad Hossain’s directorial debut Nadan has also been pulled from the Eid schedule.

The news was confirmed by Shamol Mawla through a heartfelt social media post.

He wrote: “With a heavy heart, I share that Nadan won’t be released this Eid because of some technical issues.

“I’m truly thankful to everyone who appreciated the poster, and I hope to receive the same love when the film does come out.”

Nadan had released its first-look poster on May 13, 2025, and was initially included in the Eid slate.

The film features Sayma Smrity, Rakib Hossain Evan, Arfan Mredha Shiblu, Saif Khan, and Jewel Jahur among others.

Both films were seen as strong contenders in this year’s Eid box office race.

Their absence has not only disappointed fans but also shifted attention to the remaining releases.

With ten films still in the lineup, the Eid season is far from empty.

Yet the absence of Shironaam and Nadan is sure to be felt in theatres across the country.
