Blackburn Café reopens with South Asian Fusion Menu

A Blackburn café has reopened under new ownership with a refreshed interior and a menu combining traditional English favourites with South Asian-inspired dishes.

The Olive Branch Café, located in Redlam near the Witton Inn, has been taken over by Asma Hanslod.

The new owner has introduced a varied menu designed to appeal to customers looking for both familiar café dishes and South Asian flavours.

Breakfast options include buns, toasties, paninis, bagels and cold sandwiches, alongside more traditional full English and half-English breakfasts.

The café also serves chicken burgers, beef burgers, loaded fries and a variety of sides throughout the day.

Asma said the paninis have proved particularly popular since the café reopened under its new ownership.

She also highlighted the full English and half-English breakfasts as some of the menu’s strongest sellers.

The half-English option was introduced for customers who wanted a smaller breakfast without ordering a full meal.

The café has also undergone extensive renovations, including changes to the seating area.

The updated interior provides customers with a refreshed space to enjoy food and drinks throughout the day.

The Olive Branch Café is open from 8 am until 10 pm, giving customers the option of visiting for breakfast, lunch, dinner or evening drinks.

Its drinks menu includes hot and cold beverages, alongside smoothies and mojitos.

Asma said opening during the summer holidays had helped the new owners become familiar with the local area.

Customers can also order dishes from the café through delivery platforms including Just Eat and Uber Eats.

Keeping prices affordable has been another priority for the new owners as they establish the café in the Blackburn community.

South Asian-inspired options include the Desi Egg Paratha Roll, priced at £3.50.

The café also offers an English munch box for £6.50, providing customers with another affordable meal option.

Asma said the café had deliberately kept its prices competitive while introducing its new menu.

The new ownership comes as Blackburn’s food scene continues to offer customers a wider range of South Asian-inspired options.
