They maintained their long-distance relationship.
A French woman’s wedding pictures went viral after she married her tour guide, a man from Bihar.
Mary Lori Heral, a businesswoman from Paris, had visited India sometime in 2015.
Whilst there, she met Rakesh, a resident of Begusarai who was living in Delhi at the time. He worked as a tour guide and showed Mary the city landmarks.
The pair got to know each other and stayed in touch after she returned to Paris.
They continued to speak to one another over the phone and during this time, they confessed their love for each other.
They maintained their long-distance relationship.
Sometime in 2018, Mary asked Rakesh to move to Paris and start a textile business with her.
He obliged and as they worked together, they grew even closer and decided to get married.
According to Rakesh’s father, Ramchandra Sha, Mary was so impressed by the Indian culture that she decided to travel to the country to get married there.
After seeking consent from both families, Mary and Rakesh tied the knot on November 21, 2021, in a traditional Hindu ceremony.
Members of Mary’s family, who had come from France to attend the wedding, congratulated the newlywed couple.
After getting married, the couple and the guests danced to Hindi and Bhojpuri songs.
After hearing about the wedding, many locals attended the ceremony.
They are now planning to stay in Bihar for a week.
According to Rakesh’s family, the French woman wanted to get married in a small town like Begusarai as she was fond of the Bihari customs.
Both families worked together to make the wedding arrangements.
The newly married couple will remain in India for a week before returning to Paris to resume work on their textile business.
There have been numerous cases of long-distance relationships turning into marriage in South Asia.
Previously, a 40-year-old American woman married a Pakistani TikToker, aged 27.
The woman, named Daniel, is a resident of Washington DC.
She travelled to Rawalpindi to marry Afshan Raj, a TikToker.
Since getting married, Daniel has converted religion and changed her name to Hafsa Afshan.
Afshan explained that the woman had liked and commented on one of his TikTok videos. This led to a conversation in the comments section.
He added: “I cannot believe that I have married Hafsa.”
Afsan went on to say that there is a noticeable age gap but that did not matter as she gave up everything to marry him.
He continued: “There is a big difference between Daniel and my age, but I consider myself lucky that a non-Muslim converted to Islam because of me.”
Hafsa explained that she is fond of Pakistani culture.
She added: “I like Eastern culture, clothes and mosques very much. Pakistan is a beautiful country.
“The people here are very simple and hospitable.”
