"You have to work hard every single day."

Renowned singer Shreya Ghoshal has recently slammed the practice of lip syncing during live concerts as a very lazy act.

The melody queen shared her candid thoughts while appearing on a popular podcast hosted by Raj Shamani.

She emphasised that artists must put in significant effort instead of relying on pre-recorded tracks for their stage performances.

“That’s just a lazy act. Apne mehanat nahi kari (You haven’t put in the hard work). In my personal opinion, it’s not a good approach.”

Shreya mentioned that she feels extremely insulted if a public performance of hers fails to meet her own high standards.

According to her, singers should never take their success lightly or think they have already achieved their ultimate goals today.

“Either you work hard on your craft because you’ve earned that crown or throne, don’t take it lightly thinking you’ve already achieved it.

“You have to work hard every single day.”

Her remarks come shortly after the artist AP Dhillon faced heavy criticism for lip-syncing on a popular show.

During his appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, the singer performed ‘With You’ without actually singing live.

This specific incident invited a lot of negative feedback from the audience, who expected a much more authentic live performance.

Apart from technical skills, Shreya also discussed her evolving choices regarding the lyrical content of her various hit songs.

She specifically mentioned the hit item number ‘Chikni Chameli’ from her past.

While she is not embarrassed by the track, she admitted that she would not record similar suggestive songs anymore.

The singer explained that she was not mature enough to fully understand the meaning of certain lines back then.

“That song is not just a fun number, there is a lot of artistry in it. There were toned-down versions too.

“The one that finally appeared in the film was more subtle than the original drafts, though still suggestive.”

She maintains that she likes the song ‘Chikni Chameli’ and will always own her past work.

“Yes, I did perform it. I like that song. I think it’s good. But I won’t record songs like that anymore.”

Her stance on lip syncing has resonated with many fans who value the raw energy of a live musical performance.

Shreya Ghoshal remains one of the few singers who can perform flawlessly without any musical backing on the stage.
