fans can anticipate an evening packed with filmy hits

Bollywood’s songbird Shreya Ghoshal will be performing some of her most memorable hits with a full symphony orchestra at the Birmingham Symphony Hall on Saturday 5th May 2018.

Returning to the UK for another sell-out show, fans can anticipate an evening packed with filmy hits. As well as some of Shreya’s most popular tracks as a successful solo artist.

While today Ghoshal is a household name in South Asia, the singing sensation first took India’s breath away when she won the popular singing competition, Sa Re Ga Ma in 2000, which was hosted by Sonu Nigam.

Without a doubt, Shreya was destined for a long career in the music industry. She debuted her mesmerising vocals in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bollywood epic, Devdas.

Aged only 16, Shreya sang the popular tracks, ‘Bairi Piya’, ‘Silsila Ye Chaahat Ka’ and ‘Dola Re Dola’. Incredibly, she sang ‘Bairi Piya’ in one take, saying:

“I remember I was asked to rehearse the song once before finally recording it. I simply closed my eyes and sang without a break.

“When I opened my eyes, I noticed a lot of excitement and chaos outside the recording room. Then Sanjay Ji told me I had sung the song so well that they had recorded it at one go.”

The instant success won Ghoshal many accolades and fans, and her accomplishments have only increased in the decades since.

Some of her most familiar tracks include, ‘Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Chikni Chameli’, ‘Yeh Ishq Haye’, ‘Barso Re’, ‘Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai’, ‘Teri Meri’, and ‘Sunn Raha Hai’.

She has also dueted with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Udit Narayan, Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Atif Aslam, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

Aside from her incredible success in Bollywood, Shreya is also a popular playback singer for a number of regional film industries such as the Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam film industries.

Her melodious vocals are enjoyed in a number of South Asian dialects like Bengali, Tamil, Marathi and Gujarati to name a few.

This Indian songbird is one of the most beloved singers of South Asia. She has even released over 16 studio albums in a range of dialects.

Her versatility and emotive vocals make her much sought after by music composers and film directors. And she has also had the opportunity to perform in some of the UK’s most prestigious venues such as The Royal Albert Hall.

Following a series of sold-out tours, Shreya again returns to the UK for an unforgettable evening alongside a full symphony orchestra.

Relive some of Shreya’s most beloved songs as she performs them live on stage on Saturday 5th May 2018.

The musical evening is presented by RIA Financial Services, in association with Rock On Music, Gift A Smile and the Nightingale of India.
