Jasleen Matharu and Anup Jalota have left social media users wondering if they got married after a photo of them together wearing wedding attire went viral.
The pair became famed for their appearance on Bigg Boss 12 in 2018 where the concept was ‘jodis’.
Musicians Jasleen and Anup entered as a ‘jodi’ and it was heavily speculated that they were in a relationship. However, they always denied it.
They have stated that they have a father and daughter relationship. Anup has also repeatedly said that he is Jasleen’s mentor.
Now, a picture has left netizens shocked after Jasleen shared a picture of her and Anup. The pair are sitting together and wearing wedding attire.
Many wondered when they got married.
One person asked: “What is this?”
Another said: “Happy honeymoon.”
However, the picture is not as it seems as it has been reported that the picture is a glimpse at Jasleen’s upcoming film, Woh Meri Student Hai.
Anup also said that the picture is a still from the film, laughing off speculation that the pair actually got married. He said:
“That’s a still from a film that Jasleen and I are doing.
“The film is called Woh Meri Student Hai, and I play Jasleen’s music teacher who gets her married to a suitably eligible man.”
Anup went on to say that his role in the film is how he is in real-life.
“I play more-or-less my real-life role. I am a singer in the film. And I’ve even performed a rap number.
“Rap may be relatively new to America. In India rap singing is as old as the mythological scriptures.
“If you remember Ashok Kumar in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Ashirwaad (1969), he had sung a hit rap number ‘Rail Gadi Chuk Chuk’.”
On the marriage rumours with Jasleen, Anup said:
“The still is from a dream sequence in the film. Jasleen’s father is the film’s director.”
Some netizens said it was a publicity stunt. Anup replied to the claims:
“Maybe, I don’t know. And I don’t mind. At 67 I am trying out all sorts of new experiences including rap-singing.”
Jasleen Matharu had been in a relationship with Bhopal-based Dr Abhinit Gupta, however, they have now gone their separate ways.
Jasleen had said that she and her brother met with Dr Gupta in Bhopal and stayed there for two weeks.
She also revealed that Anup was the one who introduced them to each other.
Now, Jasleen explained that their relationship ended due to their Kundlis not matching.
A Kundli is a manually generated horoscope based on zodiac signs.
Jasleen said: “Yes, our marriage will not happen.
“Well, to begin with, our Kundlis did not match. My parents believe a lot in Kundlis. I would never go against their wishes and set up a marital home of my own without their blessings. I don’t want to put them under any stress.
“Secondly, I realised along the way that our temperaments too did not match.”
