"When girls see what’s possible, they dream bigger."
Smriti Mandhana has become the first cricketer to be immortalised as a Barbie doll, after being selected for Mattel’s inaugural Barbie Dream Team collection, celebrating women breaking barriers.
The one-of-a-kind doll was revealed ahead of International Women’s Day.
The doll is dressed in Mandhana’s India jersey with her name and number, alongside a personalised bat and gloves.
Sharing her reaction on Instagram, Mandhana wrote:
“Still processing this moment… Seeing a one-of-a-kind @Barbie doll inspired by my journey is something I never imagined growing up.
“Cricket has given me so much, and if my story helps even one girl believe she belongs on the field, that means everything.
“Honoured to be part of Barbie’s Dream Team alongside incredible women from around the world who are breaking barriers in their own fields. When girls see what’s possible, they dream bigger.”

Alongside Smriti Mandhana, the Barbie Dream Team features prominent women who have paved the way for future generations.
Other dolls include tennis legend Serena Williams, astronaut Kellie Gerardi, professional race car driver Regina Sirvent Alvarado, English footballer Chloe Kelly, pop artist Helene Fischer, expedition climber Zoja Skubis, and professional surfer Stephanie Gilmore.
Mattel said the initiative celebrates women “who have led the way for future generations of girls by accomplishing breakthrough firsts in their chosen paths”.
A spokesperson added:
“This is about celebrating women who lead by example and inspire the next generation.”
“The dream is real, and we have the team to prove it.”

Professionally, Smriti Mandhana has enjoyed good form in recent times, having recently returned to the top of the ICC ODI batting rankings.
The left-handed opener also led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their second Women’s Premier League title earlier this year.
Barbie was first introduced by American businesswoman Ruth Handler in 1959. The doll has sold billions of units worldwide and remains Mattel’s most profitable product line.
The Dream Team series was unveiled through a video showing Mandhana admiring the doll created in her likeness.
The figure is a bespoke creation and will not be sold in shops. Mattel timed the reveal to coincide with International Women’s Day celebrations.
The theme for International Women’s Day 2026 is ‘Give To Gain’, which encourages a mindset of generosity and collaboration.
