"Hrithik and Tiger will be seen going at each other ferociously"
The trailer for the much-anticipated film War has been released and it is an action-packed battle between Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff.
The two actors are sharing screen space for the first time and the film is predicted to be the biggest action film of 2019.
Over-the-top stunts are packed throughout the trailer which opens with Hrithik standing on a plane wing while it is flying before parachuting down onto an Army plane.
Tiger is then introduced by smashing through a wall before he showcases some jaw-dropping fight sequences.
Hrithik plays Kabir while Tiger takes on the role of Khalid. Both are agents, however, Kabir seems to have gone rogue.
Khalid has been given orders to bring him in or kill him. But what makes the story more difficult is that Khalid was Kabir’s protege.
The action sequences are immense. From aerial shots to guns blazing all around.
In an earlier statement, director Siddharth Anand discussed the two actors and the film. He said:
“When you bring two of the biggest and the best action superstars of India in one film and pit them against each other, you need a title that justifies the promise of a massive showdown.
“Hrithik and Tiger will be seen going at each other ferociously and mercilessly and audiences will want to see who outwits whom in this incredible fight.”
War also stars Vaani Kapoor, who briefly appears in the trailer and is seen romancing Hrithik’s character.
Stunt directors Paul Jennings, Franz Spilhaus, SeaYoung Oh and Parvez Shaikh were brought in for War and the extreme sequences do not disappoint.
One stunt includes a high-octane chase between Hrithik and Tiger which has been filmed in Finland.
Siddharth explained the sequence: “We were very clear from the start that we want to give Indian audiences action that they have never seen before.
“Our film has a huge car sequence that sees Hrithik and Tiger perform an adrenaline-pumping stunt that has been entirely shot on ice.
“We shot this in Finland which is in the Arctic circle and we were informed by our production team that we were the first-ever film in the world to shoot an action sequence of this scale in the Arctic.”
He added:
“Hrithik and Tiger pushed themselves from the word ‘go’ for our film to pull off some death-defying stunts.
“This sequence was incredibly risky but so visually stunning that we went for it.”
War has been produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. The film is set to be released on October 2, 2019.
