A Nike advert starring some of India’s most talented female athletes has gone viral.
Everyone is talking about Nike’s 2 minute 52 second long ad, which was released on July 10, 2016. The advertisement, called ‘Da Da Ding’ has already been viewed more than two million times on YouTube.
The video, which features top Indian sportswomen, and the Bollywood beauty, Deepika Padukone, is all about girl power.
Following its release, the popular Bollywood actress, Alia Bhatt tweeted her admiration for the ad. In a tweet which mentioned Deepika Padukone, Bhatt’s excitement was clear. She said:
“This new #NIKE TVC is just too good!!! Wohoo girl power… Love it!!! Such beautiful girls..Da da ding da da ding da ding.”
The ad has been produced to develop women’s participation in sports. And it has been released in the year that India will be sending their largest ever Olympic team.
More than 100 male and female Indian athletes will compete at the 2016 Rio Olympics, which begin in August.
Who’s Involved
Padukone is shown playing badminton in the ad, and she is joined by several successful female athletes, including Harmanpreet Kaur.
Cricket star, Kaur, is the vice-captain of the Indian women’s cricket team. And she was joined by two of her teammates, Smriti Mandhana and Shubhlakshmi Sharma, for the advert.
Footballers, Jyoti Ann Burrett and Tanvie Hans, are also part of the video. Both players have played in the English Women’s League for Tottenham Hotspur Ladies.
Rani Rampal also features. She became the youngest player in India’s hockey team in 2010 when she was just 15 years old. Now 21, she is one of the best forward players in Indian hockey.
Squash player, Joshana Chinappa and India’s first professional surfer, Ishita Malaviya are also a part of the much talked about Nike advert.
