"An important part for the girl in an Indian wedding is the Mehendi."
Indian actress Priyanka Chopra and actor-singer Nick Jonas have tied the knot on December 01, 2018, in the first ceremony of their wedding in India.
Priyanka and Nick made their weddings vows to each other in a traditional Western ceremony at Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhawan Palace.
According to the media sources, the marriage function was officiated by Nicks’ father, ex-pastor Paul Kevin Jonas Senior. The couple also shared pictures of their Mehendi ceremony on social media.
The newlyweds described it as an afternoon that began the celebrations in a manner that they both had dreamt of.
The bride wore a creation by Ralph Lauren, who crafted an original couture piece.
Besides the bride, Nick, the bridesmaids and groomsmen all reportedly wore ensembles by the same designer.
The wedding festivities began with a Mehendi ceremony on November 29, 2018. Following day one of their wedding, an Indian Punjabi ceremony will take place on December 2, 2018.
The Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur was beautifully lit up for the occasion of this celebrity wedding. After the couple said, ‘I do’ grand fireworks were set across the palace skyline.

The couple had a glittering assembly of socialites, actors and other notable attendees.
Some of whom include Arpita Khan who attended with her son Ahil.
The Ambanis were also present at the wedding with Nita Ambani, Mukesh Ambani and their daughter Isha and son Anant arriving on the evening of November 30, 2018.
YouTuber Lilly Singh and British Asian actress and singer Jasmin Walia were also spotted at the wedding festivities.
Close family such as Parineeti Chopra and Joe Jonas are on standby supporting the lovely couple through the myriad of ceremonies.
The guests of the wedding have been asked not to bring mobile phones to any of the wedding festivities.
Due to which images of the bride in her Ralph Laren gown have not yet emerged.
However, the couple has previously worn the designer together.
They were first seen publicly at the Met Gala in 2017 both sporting Ralph Laren looks.

Therefore it was fitting the bride paid this designer the homage by selecting him as the designer for her bridal gown.
The designer tweeted his joy at the couple’s marriage stating:
“Ralph Laren is honoured to have dressed the couple as well as the members of the wedding party.”
As of yet, there have been no official images released of the couple or the wedding party in their Western ceremonial outfits.
However, Priyanka and Nick’s wedding photographer did take to Instagram to share his awe at the beautiful couple in general.
Joseph Radhik said:
“It’s been eight years of wedding photography, and tonight I may just have witnessed the most amazing sangeet night of them all. Wow.”
Chopra shared images of her mehendi ceremony after the wedding took place, the bride appears overjoyed and elated in the festivities.
She was wearing a bright multi-coloured yellow lehenga and even had some sunglasses to give the look a little edge.
Priyanka opted for an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga from their vintage collection.
These designers appear very popular with Bollywood brides, as they also designed a wedding reception look for recent bride Deepika Padukone.
In the Instagram post shared we can see the cousin of the bride, Parineeti Chopra in a stunning yellow ensemble.
Parineeti’s outfit complimented her cousin’s yellow lehenga nicely and is an excellent example of fashion coordination during Desi Wedding functions.
Joe Jonas, brother of the groom’s girlfriend Sophie Turner is seen in a striking black Anita Dongre lehenga.
Dongre has been a favourite for international celebrities, with the Duchess of Cambridge having worn Dongre’s creations in the past as well.
Overall the wedding party seem to be having a lot of fun while looking very fashionable.
The couple has been very expressive and open about sharing and valuing one another’s cultures.
Priyanka’s Instagram caption highlighted the importance of making your wedding festivities your own.
“One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is merging of families who love and respect each other’s faith and cultures.
“And so planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was so so amazing.”
“An important part for the girl in an Indian wedding is the Mehendi.”
“Once again we made it our own and it was an afternoon that kicked off the celebrations in the way we both dreamed of.”
The sangeet party took place with an extravaganza of entertainment at the palace in the evening. With guests and the couple taking part in the celebrations of their big day.

It all began as a fierce song & dance competition between the families but ended, as always, as a huge celebration of love. Nick and I were looking forward to the Sangeet (musical evening), another pre wedding ritual.. and to see what each side had put together. And what a performance it was. Each family telling our stories through song and dance, filled with lots of laughter and love. We were both filled with gratitude for the effort, the love and the laughter and will carry the memories of this special evening for the rest of our lives. It is an amazing start to a lifetime of togetherness for our families and friends.. #grateful @nickjonas
As such today was Nick’s cultural values being upheld and celebrated. Priyanka’s big Indian festivities are set to take place on December 2, 2018.
The wedding will continue with an Indian ceremony and more grandeur is expected to take place.
