he did not like her suggestion. He then beat her.
On Friday, April 10, 2020, an Indian husband was arrested for beating his wife and mother.
The incident took place in the town of Farukh Nagar in Gurgaon, Haryana.
It was reported that he carried out the double assault after he was told to wear a face mask.
Since India implemented a nationwide lockdown, they made it mandatory for citizens to wear masks whenever they were out.
In Gurgaon, the administration stated that strict action would be taken against those not wearing a mask.
The man planned to go out, however, when his wife told him to wear a mask, he became angry and beat her.
He complained to his mother but she sided with her daughter-in-law. The husband then hit her before throwing his wife out of the house.
The woman went to the police and filed a complaint.
The 30-year-old victim explained that her husband Rajbir was going out to open his hotel despite the lockdown. As he was leaving, the woman told him to wear a mask as a precaution.
She said that he did not like her suggestion. He then beat her.
When Rajbir told his mother and she agreed with her daughter-in-law’s request, he hit her.
The wife alleged that she was beaten badly before being kicked out of the house. According to the victim, the Indian husband threatened to kill her.
As she was thrown out of the house, Rajbir told her that the police would not take action against him because he gave them monthly payments.
However, when the victim told the police of her ordeal, a case was registered against Rajbir.
The station in-charge confirmed that Rajbir was arrested. He went on to say that the matter is being investigated.
Since the lockdown was implemented, there have been increasing reports of domestic violence against women.
In one case in Bihar, a husband and wife had an argument at their home. It was alleged that the man then assaulted her and threw several household items out of the house.
The incident upset the woman who then decided to call the police. She told officers that her husband had brutally beaten her during a row.
Police arrived at the scene but did not arrest the husband.
Instead, they tried to counsel the couple, explaining that there has been an increase in the number of domestic incidents during the lockdown.
However, officers were left with no choice but to arrest the man, identified as Praveen, when the Indian wife showed them three bottles of liquor.
In Bihar, alcohol has been prohibited since April 1, 2016.
