“I feel like I’ve won, to be honest.”
Shannon Singh has revealed that she has rekindled her romance with her ex-boyfriend Ben Sterling, five months after leaving Love Island.
The Scot was the first contestant to leave the villa after just two days.
While she was disappointed by her exit and called the show a “waste of time”, she now believes that “everything happens for a reason”.
Professional DJ Ben and Shannon had been in a relationship prior to the show but split up in March 2021.
But the pair seem happier than ever after getting back together and recently, they went on holiday to Mexico.
Shannon said: “For me, everything happens for a reason.
“I’m in a really happy place now. Life didn’t go the way I wanted it to with the show, but I’m grateful that (Ben) gave me another shot.
“We’re really happy. We’re honestly really happy. I have one of the things that a lot of the contestants don’t have, which is privacy in a happy relationship.
“I feel like I’ve won, to be honest.”
On Love Island, Shannon feels like the show is a “long-distance memory”.
The 23-year-old told OK!:
“In hindsight, it wasn’t meant to be for me and I’m doing really great.”
Shannon revealed her five-year plan and admitted that she would like to become a mother in the not-so-distant future.
She continued: “I’m getting to the age now when I want my mum to become a grandma, my dad to be a grandpa. I want a little one, but not anytime soon.
“People will be like, ‘Oh my god you’re back with Ben and you’re already having a baby’, but we’re both not established in our careers yet – he’s off touring every five minutes.
“But, in the next five years, I’d love to have a little one by the time I’m 26 or 27. That’s when my mum had me.”
While parenthood is on the cards, Shannon admitted that she is not too bothered about getting married.
She explained:
“I don’t need a piece of paper and a fancy wedding to show someone that I love them.”
“I think marriage is a curse!
“Honestly, I’ve always said it. You see so many relationships go downhill once they get married.”
In addition to becoming a mother, Shannon Singh also wants to start her own business and hopes to become a successful Twitch streamer.
She added: “I love gaming. The thing that’s annoying me right now is my living situation.
“I’m living right now with my best mate and I love it, but me and Ben are maybe going to look at getting a house – not soon, we’re probably going to wait a little bit – but my gaming set up is at the flat in Berkhamsted.”
