Punjabi movies are popular globally, showcasing interesting, fun, and thrilling content. The main overseas markets for the Punjabi film industry include India, USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand.

The Punjabi film industry is expanding and growing at a fast rate. Filmmakers are now turning their focus on the quality of the movies.

In 2019, Punjabi cinema had a good year, delivering fantastic movies such as Shadaa, Ardaas Karaan and Chal Mera Putt.

This Punjabi movie will release in India and Canada on February 14, 2020.

Good Luck Jatta

Good Luck Jatta is a film, which goes under the comedy-drama category.

Releasing on July 4, 2019, the initial poster is to some extent rather plain yet interesting. The use of pink suggests a love theme will be present.

The dynamics of the movie features one male leading actor and two female leading actresses, including Rubina Bajwa. More so, this could mean the story revolves around a love triangle, which will make the film more appealing.

Also, the use of the British flags and iconic London landmarks suggests the movie is set in the United Kingdom.

On September 20, 2019, director Vikram Thori went on Twitter to express his thought about the shooting of the film, tweeting:

“Good Luck Jatta shooting in Birmingham was a fantastic experience, we as a team promise to bring you a ride with fun love and laughter. It was a great learning curve for us a whole team to shoot in UK . I thank all…”

Ninja who has a role in the film is a very versatile artist, as he is a singer and actor. Using his talents and vision, he has also created a production house with Umesh Karmawala, calling it ‘Karmawala Films.’

Nadiqa Kaur will also feature in this movie. Initially, this Punjabi movie was due to release on February 14, 2020. However, it will come out on March 6, 2020.

Ik Sandhu Hunda Si

Ik Sandhu Hunda Si is a Punjabi action movie. The word ‘Sandhu’ refers to a caste in Punjab where people commonly call each other by their last names.

This film releases under the banner of Golden Bridge Films & Entertainment Pvt Ltd. Rakesh Mehta of good films such as Vaapsi (2016) and Rang Panjab (2018) is the director of this movie.

Ik Sandhu Hunda Si will star singer-actor Gippy Grewal in and as Sandhu.

Additionally, this picture also stars model Neha Sharma, making her debut in the Punjabi film industry. Her previous work includes starring in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu movies such as Chirutha (2007) Mubarakan (2017) and Solo (2017).

The movie poster featuring in the Instagram post is vibrant and to some extent comedic, showing a cartoon husband and wife.

Despite being secretive about this project, the title and poster speak volumes.

This mysterious yet fun looking Punjabi cinematography will hit the big screens on March 13, 2020.

Kabootar

Kabootar is a Punjabi cinematic film, which slots into the comedy genre.

The founder of Villagers Film Studio, the famous Ammy Virk, promotes this title on his Instagram, expressing:

In addition, Vijay Kumar Arora is bringing back the fabulous on-screen pairing of Gurnam Bhullar and Sonam Bajwa. This will definitely be a delight for the viewers as experience this star jodi once again.

Masand

Masand is a Punjabi feature film, which appears to be action orientated. Supposedly, the story of this film takes inspiration from true events.

Rabbi Kandola has written this Punjabi movie and will also feature as one of the leads. He will share screen space with Nishawn Bhullar, Vaquar Sheikh, Amrinder Billing and RP Singh.

Going public on September 7, 2019, Sikander (2013) actor Nishawn Bhullar revealed more about this movie on his Instagram. A  fan of his liking the film poster, wished Nishawn good luck, commenting:

“???aowsome poster and best of luck #nishwanbhullar bai g”

Furthermore, the poster itself seems rather dark and peculiar, suggesting that this is a serious action film.

In what seems to be a thrilling film, Masnad will be arriving across cinemas on May 15, 2020.

Daler

Director: Sukhminder Dhanjal

Daler is a Punjabi moving picture, which emerges within the action-drama genre. This Punjabi movie meaning ‘brave’ will feature Dev Kharoud, who is generally popular for taking on action roles.

Action hero Dev has had a busy schedule in 2019, appearing in three back to back titles. Particularly, his on-screen presence was felt in Kaka Ji, Blackia, DSP Dev and Naukar Vahuti Da.

Sukhminder Dhanjal, the national award-winning director, takes the directors chair for this film. He is known for his fine work such as Baghi (2006) and Blackia (2019).

Sukhminder went on Instagram to reveal his latest piece of work, mentioning:

“A different content with dream team.”

The colour scheme of the movie poster is interesting, with orange surrounding the centric yellow. Behind the orange, vague buildings are present, which possibly suggest the location of the film.

There is also a strong fist breaking the shackles in the poster. Daler, the Punjabi action movie, aims to land in cinemas on May 22, 2020.

Puaada

The screenplay of Puaada will reflect a romantic comedy story. This movie will see Rupinder Chahal making her directional debut.

Rupinder has previous creative cinema experience. Her contributions include being writer and producer for Chak Jawana (2010), writer to Mubarakan (2017) and associate director of Firangi (2017).

Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa are the star attractions of this film.

Puaada will see Ammy and Sonam collaborating on-screen for the fourth time. Their earlier movies include Nikka Zaildar (2016), Nikka Zaildar 2 (2017) and Muklawa (2019).

Phatte Dinde Chakk Punjabi

Phatte Dinde Chakk Punjabi will take shape under the comedy-drama genre.

With Smeep Kang directing the film, suggests that this title will be a comedy delight. Receiving well with the audience, his directorial films such as Carry On Jatta (2012) and Vaisakhi List (2016) were very enjoyable and entertaining.

Smeep and Gippy Grewal work together again, following the success of Bhai Ji in Problem (2013). Additionally, multi-the talented Gippy Grewal will produce Phatte Dinde Chakk Punjabi.

The background mainly consists of bright yellow, with odd shapes floating around in purple with the title in the centre.

This movie releases for the pleasure of the viewers worldwide on July 17, 2020.

Qismat 2

Qismat 2 is a romantic drama flick and sequel to Qismat (2018).

Jagdeep Sidhu made his directional debut with Qismat, which became the highest-grossing film of 2018. Jagdeep went on to claim ‘Best Debut Director’ for the prequel at the 2019 PTC Punjabi Film Awards.

During Qismat (2018), the acting pair of Ammy Virk and Sargun Mehta put up a captivating performance. Their chemistry was strong, with the incomplete love story bringing tears to the eyes of the audience.

Thus, the hit acting duo return to feature in the sequel.

Jagdeep has confirmed Qismat 2 is in the makings. Revealing exclusively in a conversation with Ghaint Punjab, Jagdeep states:

“After the massive success of Qismat, I started receiving many calls from eminent makers offering to make a sequel.

Carry On Jatta 3

Before going behind the camera, Priti was better known for acting in Punjabi and Bollywood cinema. Her presence and elegance were noticeable in movies such as Sarpanch (1982) Qurbani Jatt Di (1990) and Sardari (1997).
