"The astrologer did not believe in me."
Vijay Varma revealed that he was dropped from a film because of the filmmaker’s astrologer.
The actor is part of many top projects but in the past, filmmakers would seek the advice of their astrologers before casting Vijay.
Vijay recalled an incident where he was rejected from a film because the astrologer did not like his pictures.
He explained: “I once learned that I was selected for a part and was then asked to send some pictures. I won’t name who asked me.
“After that, I was dropped from the film and I believe the reason was that a jyotish (astrologer) did not like my pictures.
“He did not approve of the prospect of casting me. The astrologer did not believe in me.”
While it was a setback, Vijay did not consider giving up and it was thanks to Naseeruddin Shah.
Speaking about the veteran actor, Vijay told News18:
“This is something that I could not get to. I never lost sight or hope.
“I think that Naseer (Naseeruddin Shah) Sahab told us when we were students, he said, ‘If you want to become an actor but you also have a Plan B, then just take that Plan B because if you want to be an actor, you have to go through a lot of tough times. It may not be easy for you’.
“So, I was prepared to have just this one path and wait till my time comes.”
Vijay stated that while he is grateful for the support he gets from fans, he admitted that he still has a lot to do.
He said: “The love that I receive, the kind of adulation and relationship that I have built over the years in the movies are deeply personal and beautiful.
“As much as I think that I have covered a lot of ground and travelled a certain journey, I still feel like I am rearing to go to a place where I want to do a lot more.”
Vijay Varma has enjoyed a busy 2023, with the likes of Lust Stories 2 and Jaane Jaan.
But it is his relationship with Tamannaah Bhatia that is frequently in the headlines.
Dating rumours first came to light in January 2023 when they appeared to be spotted kissing at a New Year’s party.
Tamannaah eventually confirmed their relationship in June, saying:
“I don’t think you can get attracted to someone just because they are your co-star. I have had so many co-stars.
“I think if one has to fall for someone, feel something for someone it’s definitely more personal, it’s nothing to do with what they do for a living, I mean that’s not the reason why this would happen.”
