“People assumed I was older."

Actress Maham Amir has opened up about the early struggles she faced in her acting journey because of her height.

In a recent appearance on a morning show, the actress shared how she was once rejected for being “too tall.”

She recalled that a well-known TV channel had invited her for an audition when she was just starting out.

Excited about the opportunity, Maham met with the female owner of the channel, who made a remark she never forgot.

The woman bluntly told her she could not be cast as a lead actress because she was taller than most male actors.

According to Maham, the channel owner even advised her to consider a different career path outside acting altogether.

Maham said she was shocked and hurt by the comment but remained confident and determined not to let it break her spirit.

She told the woman that it was fine if her height cost her a role, but she would still make it someday.

Years later, Maham has proved her words right, becoming a familiar name in Pakistani television and admired for her performances.

She said that the same channel owner later acknowledged her success after seeing her on screen in several hit projects.

Though Maham did not name the person, she expressed disappointment at how superficial judgments can discourage aspiring artists.

She also discussed how her height had affected her since childhood, sharing how classmates often misunderstood her age at school.

Maham revealed: “People assumed I was older or had failed classes just because of my height.”

Her parents, she added, always encouraged her to stay confident and ignore what others said about her appearance.

Beyond her acting journey, Maham also touched upon how being tall has influenced her personality and self-confidence.

Earlier, in her appearance on the popular comedy talk show Mazaaq Raat, Maham spoke about standing up to street harassment.

She revealed that she had confronted and even physically fought men who had tried to harass or misbehave with her in public.

Maham explained how her physical stature gave her a sense of protection, saying:

“Because I’m tall, men often felt intimidated.”

Her bold confessions on the show received widespread praise from fans who admired her courage and honesty.

Maham said her height, which once made her feel out of place, eventually became her strength both personally and professionally.

Her story has since resonated with many young women facing judgment or ridicule for simply being different.

For Maham Amir, the rejection that once felt like an obstacle has turned into a reminder of how far she has come.
