"I'm just so touched and humbled by this."
Bollywood’s biggest stars gathered for an unforgettable night as the winners of the Filmfare Awards 2025 were announced on October 11.
The event marked the 70th Filmfare ceremony, and it was held at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
It was sponsored by Hyundai and Gujarat Tourism.
Presented by Karan Johar, Maniesh Paul, and Shah Rukh Khan, the glamorous function honoured the best Bollywood films that were released in 2024.
Laapataa Ladies dominated the night with a staggering 13 wins, including ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Director’ for Kiran Rao.
Kartik Aaryan bagged his first Filmfare trophy for ‘Best Actor’, in recognition of his terrific performance in Chandu Champion.
The actor shared his prize with Abhishek Bachchan, who was awarded for his performance in I Want To Talk.
In his career spanning over 25 years, this marked Abhishek’s first win in the ‘Best Actor’ category.
Abhishek reflected: “I cannot remember how many times I practiced a speech for this award.
“This has been a dream, and I’m just so touched and humbled by this.”
In his speech, Kartik said: “I think it’s like a dream for me.
“I never heard a story about a paralympian winning a gold medal.
“I heard a story about a man who never stopped believing in himself when others stopped believing in him.
“That journey has been the greatest of my career.”
Kartik thanked his director, Kabir Khan, and producer, Sajid Nadiadwala.
Alia Bhatt won her third consecutive award for ‘Best Actress’, following her wins for Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022) and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023).
With six total accolades, Alia currently stands as the actress with the most awards in this category.
In a first for the Filmfare Awards, prizes for ‘Cine Icons of Indian Cinema’, honouring each decade were announced.
Winners in this category included Dilip Kumar, Nutan, Jaya Bachchan, Meena Kumari, Bimal Roy, and Karan Johar.
As the event coincided with Amitabh Bachchan’s 83rd birthday, the veteran actor was applauded.
There were more moments of tributes when Zeenat Aman and the late Shyam Benegal shared the Filmfare ‘Lifetime Achievement’ awards.
The glorious night also included jaw-dropping performances from the likes of Kajol, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Abhishek Bachchan.
Kriti Sanon also paid a glistening tribute to Zeenat, while Ananya Panday and Siddhanth Chaturvedi made their debuts on the Filmfare stage.
Speaking of this moment, Ananya said: “I felt amazing – I hope people enjoyed it.
“It was my first time doing Garba and Dandiya, and my first time on the Filmfare stage, but the energy was something else.”
The Laapataa Ladies actors, Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam, also picked up the gongs for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ and ‘Best Supporting Actress’, respectively.
While accepting her award, Chhaya said: “Every time, I got a lot of praise, but the awards eluded me.
“Thank you so much. Kiran, I love you. I didn’t believe that I’d be able to do this role. You made me believe in myself.
“This award is for those who have been working in the industry for many years and think, ‘When will my time come?'”
