It will offer over 2,000 films in Hindi and eight other Indian languages such as Tamil.
Have you ever wished streaming services would provide a lot more Bollywood content? Well, Bigflix may have answered your wish.
This new Indian streaming site offers users with a vast array of Bollywood hits. It aims to be the top provider of Indian film content.
It will likely become a worthy rival to other services such as Amazon Prime and, in particular, Netflix.
Bigflix currently plans a global launch, aiming to provide Indians across the world with both classic and new films. They reportedly will offer over 2,000 films in Hindi and eight other Indian languages such as Tamil.
While it first enjoyed a successful launch in India, Bigflix now plans to reach a global audience. It already made the first step by expanding to Dubai.
The decision to enter into Dubai’s audience, taking place on 1st May 2017, was carefully thought out by the company. The UAE reportedly has 2.5 million Indian expats living in the country.
CEO of Reliance Entertainment Digital, Amit Khanduja, spoke about the global expansion. He said:
“We are a service for the Indian community who want to watch Indian content. The UAE is a very important market and it’s one of the fastest-growing in terms of Indian content consumption.”
The streaming service already enjoys a user base of 3.9 million. And with this global launch, they hope the number will increase to 10 million by 2019.
As reports claim that there are 30 million Indians around the world, they seem well set to hit that landmark number.
Bigflix now has set its sights on the US and Canada, as these countries also contain a big Indian community. They also have the potential to become a major competitor for Netflix.
While Netflix can boast of having 100 million global users, it may need to step up its game with Indian film content. Currently, it increases the number of new Bollywood titles daily.
But, Bigflix includes movies from other Indian film industries. It could actually have the advantage over the popular streaming service.
With Bigflix going from strength to strength, it seems Indian expats won’t have to wait long until they immerse themselves with Bollywood blockbusters.
