Punjabi singer Jasmine Sandlas has been unveiled as the cover star of Rolling Stone India’s July/August 2026 edition.
The magazine unveiled a striking cover portrait that celebrates one of Punjabi music’s most influential female artists.
The cover features Sandlas wearing a contemporary denim outfit paired with elegant gold jewellery against a deep green backdrop.
Jasmine Sandlas first gained widespread recognition through her distinctive voice and fearless musical style, with her breakthrough success coming in 20212 with Gulabi.
Her music has consistently resonated with fans across India, the UK, Canada and North America.
She became a household name with her presence on ‘Shararat’ and ‘Jaiye Sajana’ from the Dhurandhar soundtracks.
Sandlas told Rolling Stone India: “I think in the last 18 years, I’ve lost myself and found myself again and again.”
As she begins her Dream Girl Tour, the artist believes people are finally noticing her fiery vulnerability:
“The expression of me being vulnerable was always fulfilling. The acceptance from the world is recent.
“Whether it’s ‘Jaiye Sajana’ or my album, What’s In a Name, the thread that ties them together is vulnerability.
“And no matter how much the world celebrates the massive songs, I think people just want to be understood, you know?
“People want to feel like they’re not alone. They want artists to say how they feel, so they could feel like, ‘Oh my god, I was feeling it, and she’s put it into words’.”
Jasmine Sandlas’ journey as a performer began at 15, when her family moved from Punjab to California.
At the time, there were financial struggles. Despite this, Sandlas was determined to pursue her passion, performing songs by well-known Punjabi singers at functions in her local community.
She soon discovered early-2000s hip-hop, as she stated:
“I loved how aggressive it was, so in your face, so shameless, so unapologetic.
“I barely knew how to speak English, but I was learning hip-hop slang before I was learning proper English.”
Sandlas recalled “winging it” when figuring out what type of music to make.
But after an extensive exploration, she realised her real strength as an artist came from a place of emotional honesty.
As Punjabi music continues to gain worldwide recognition, artists like Jasmine Sandlas are helping expand the genre’s reach beyond traditional audiences.
Her latest cover appearance further cements her place as one of the leading voices in contemporary Punjabi music.
