Spider-Man: Brand New Day has delivered the biggest opening day for a Hollywood film in India, surpassing the long-standing record set by Avengers: Endgame.

The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film, starring Tom Holland, collected Rs 60.60 crore net on its opening day, according to trade website Sacnilk.

The film’s gross collection reached Rs 74.46 crore after opening across 17,250 screens with an average occupancy of 72.3%.

The English-language version led the way with Rs 32.25 crore net, recording a 55% occupancy. The Hindi version followed with Rs 22 crore net, while registering the highest occupancy of all language versions at an impressive 95%.

Meanwhile, the Telugu version earned Rs 3.25 crore net, while the Tamil release collected Rs 3 crore net. The Malayalam version added Rs 7 lakh, and the Kannada version contributed Rs 3 lakh.

The previous record was held by Avengers: Endgame, which earned Rs 53.60 crore net on its first day in India when it was released in 2019.

Spider-Man‘s strong opening also comfortably surpassed the Indian opening of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which also stars Tom Holland.

The mythological epic collected Rs 17.40 crore net on its first day following its release on July 17.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day also exceeded the entire Indian lifetime collection of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which earned Rs 38.32 crore net during its theatrical run.

It also outperformed the lifetime collections of Thunderbolts* in India, which finished with Rs 23.92 crore net.

However, Deadpool & Wolverine remains ahead in terms of overall Indian earnings after finishing its run with Rs 136.15 crore net, despite opening with Rs 21 crore.

Whether Spider-Man: Brand New Day can challenge Avengers: Endgame‘s lifetime Indian total of Rs 373.05 crore net remains to be seen.

With positive reviews, the film is expected to continue its strong box office performance over the weekend.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the 38th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The story follows Peter Parker after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, as he continues protecting New York City while facing an unexpected and potentially dangerous surge in his powers.

Alongside Tom Holland, the film stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal.
