Held at the beautiful Le Méridien Beach Plaza, fans will witness the charity auction in a fantastic location, set against the backdrop of an azure Mediterranean Sea.

Teaming up with ‘Race Against Dementia’

The Amber Lounge Charity Event will see F1 legend Sir Jackie Stewart’s ‘Race Against Dementia’ as the leading charity. Taking centre-stage on Friday evening, the 11th charity auction will sell off items to raise money for research in dementia.

Sir Jackie Stewart created the charity after witnessing the tragic effects dementia had on his wife, Helen. She became diagnosed with the illness, leading to Jackie determined to fund research in finding a cure for the disease.

Since ‘Race Against Dementia’ came to fruition, Amber Lounge has always had a great interest in it. CEO Sonia Irvine wanted to support the charity as she and her brother witnessed their mother battle the uncontrollable illness.

This year’s charity auction contains a massively emotional feel to it. Statistics now show that 45 million people live with the disease globally. In addition, 1 in 3 people will sadly develop some form of dementia within their lifetime. And even more shocking statistics show that a person becomes diagnosed with dementia every 3 seconds.

Therefore, organisers behind Amber Lounge understand the huge threat that this illness plays into society. And by teaming up with Sir Jackie Stewart’s charity, they hope the Amber Lounge Charity Event will create a huge success.

Both families have worked tirelessly in planned a stunning show, all for a worthwhile cause.

They also aim to create enough funds for potential breakthroughs, providing a better future for those affected.

Therefore, Amber Lounge hopes the auction will create huge success and help push further breakthroughs in the battle against dementia.

Sonia Irvine explained: “Alzheimer’s struck our family ten years ago, and we believe that it is one of the hardest diseases to come to terms with. The person is physically there, but the mind slowly slips away and with that their lifelong memories, leaving the families behind powerless and stuck in a time warp.”

“The disease is at epidemic proportions and requires funds to raise awareness, support for the families and much-needed resources for research.”

She also added: “We decided there was no better person and no better partner for this cause than Sir Jackie Stewart and his charity Race Against Dementia, and my brother Eddie and my father Edmund will be present to lend their support.

“The Amber Lounge Charity Auction is a perfect opportunity for us to join forces and drive forward the fight against this terrible disease.”

Therefore, fans will also have the chance to participate in the auction and see exclusive items. These include a one-of-a-kind painting crafted by Arunas Rutkus, motor-racing photographs from Sir Jackie Stewart and much more.

The F1 legend said: “I am very grateful to Amber Lounge for their generosity towards Race Against Dementia, in helping to raise funds through the auction at the Amber Fashion event in Monaco. My wife Helen sadly suffers from dementia, so I am absolutely behind the event and look forward to a very special evening.”

In past auctions, organisers have helped a range of charities including Special Olympics and the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Overall, they have successfully raised more than €4 million (approx. £3.3 million) for these touching causes.

They plan to achieve similar results with ‘Race Against Dementia’.

The Amber Lounge Fashion Show, accompanying the charity auction, will feature a headline slot from SAFiYAA.

Founded by Daniela Karnuts, the designer ensures that all pieces shown have a modern, luxurious feel to them. Not only will they showcase their AW17 collection, but they also display a range of exclusive looks.

British menswear designer Apsley Tailors will also present their tailor-made suits at the stylish fashion event. F1 fans will have the amazing chance to witness some of their favourite drivers take to the catwalk in their bespoke suits.
